I know I just ordered a pair from ZBSports.com...Paid $68.76 after filling out a little survey to get a 10% discount.
I'll probably buy a new pair since i've so far had every version of riders, but this one felt very heel heavy when I picked it up in the store. I didn't have a chance to try it on, but it seems much more robust than previous riders. We'll see!
A little more narrow than the 9s - I like the snugger feel. Also, the arch support is a bit different because after 10 miles I can feel my PF a bit. Never happens in the 9s or other shoes I wear. Overall not much different.
I feel like they have a lot more forefoot cushioning as well. I like them much better than the 9's.
I'm gonna skip Mizuno Wave Rider this go around. Great midsole and outsole but traditionally horrible upper. Hopefully I'll hear they got it right this time but for now I'll be giving the Supernova cushion a try.
They felt lighter to me but were actually about one tenth of an ounce heavier (sz 10). Overall the heal is narrower and it seemed like the forefoot was a bit wider for me which is perfect. The inner material seems a bit more slippery but the upper seems to a lot better fitting or more comfortable.
Odd though because I noticed a little planter after runs too (only got about 80 miles on them so far).
Here's the forthcoming RT review:
Mizuno broke into the top tier of running shoe companies on the back of the Rider, a shoe that year after year can be described as a lightweight, sporty trainer that tightly wraps the entire midfoot.ÊEven its only negative has been consistent: its smooth toe-off comes at the expense of durability.Ê When updating the Rider, the Mizuno designers concentrated their efforts on the fit Ñ not the ride. The heel was slightly narrowed and the toebox subtly revised.ÊAccording to our wear-testers, however, the biggest change was a change that Mizuno did not intend (but should not mind).ÊWhile the arch geometry remains the same, the testers reported that the midsole meets the new upper in such a way as to make it feel average in height Ñ unlike the high arch feel of previous models.
I like mine so far. Have had them for a week.
the shoe has a similar feel to the nine, but they bulked it up a bit from a cushioning standpoint. there were complaints of lack of cushioning in the forefoot on the old one, and i believe this should take care of it, other than that it has a nice heel fit, and the new design isnt too shabby either.
damn good shoe.
damn good.
Anyone else?
As already mentioned the forefoot cushioning has been improved, and the arch support has changed slightly. I always found you could flex a pair of wave riders under the arch, the 10's do appear that bit stiffer, so increasing torsional regidity. The fore foot is a flexabale as ever, and still feels light. I have a feeling these will last longer than previous modles
Tried the 10 yesterday. The sole seems a couple of mils thicker, slightly less flexible in forefoot and not as tapered in the upper as previous versions. The upper has more volume in the mid and forefoot and felt kinda sloppy. Still a good shoe but not for me this time.
