A friend was telling me that stretching should be avioded. Most people do it wrong and it causes as many injuries as it prevents. Further, the benefits are not really that great.
I've never heard this before.

One thought is that you should use the "search" function on this forum to locate the 30 or so threads discussing this topic in the past couple of years.
Anyone else getting the "Stretch your Penis by 3 inches" ad at the top of this thread???
I'm old also and have come to the conclusion that for me stretching before running is bad but after is mandatory. Many times half way thru a run I'll stop and do a couple of quick stretches. But like some other posters implied there is good info elsewhere on this site.
If I don't stretch after a run, I can't run again.
Stretching is individual, some need it some don't.
Yes stretching should be avoided. Along with warming up for a race, cooling down, hydrating, etc.
It's not too difficult to figure out. All the above could cause harm if done wrong, but are simple things that should be done. Don't stretch and plan on spending many hours & appointments with P.T.s, & massage therapists.
