Are all Kennedy's democrats?
They must be. The good thing though is that they continue to die off!
I'm an Indy local too but just across the county line so I cannot vote... but although I'm a Demo, Brizzi has done a good enough job and deserves reelection.. Although running on Rep ticket he is not a professional pol. Melina's a fine lady and this run is just a small launch pad for her win or lose. Mayor down the line I predict.
I'm also here local in Indy and have found this race somewhat facinating as it has unfolded thus far. Brizzi is focusing on the gang amnesty portion of Kennedy's plan in his ads and Kennedy has been focusing on the need for someone that can manage people.
Not saying that this has any relevance to her ability to do the job of prosecutor, but it was some additional 3rd party fuel added to the fire today.
Long time downtown tenant Hollywood Bar and Filmworks is closing it's doors after 15 years and the owner brings up some interesting points for discussion, some related to Kennedy's actions while she worked for the Mayor. Of course it is way too soon to tell how much truth there is here, but the guy took out a full page ad in the IndyStar with a long discourse on why he was closing. The thing was like 6 point font on a full page of the paper, so it is long, but he attempts to summarize his points about halfway down in Part 1 of his opinion:
http://www.filmworksonline.com/
He already has Part 2 posted on the website and it is likely going to be in the IndyStar as a 2nd ad on Monday.
Bottom line - rightly or wrongly this is something that could potentially affect the voters and is one of those things I imagine Melina never thought she would have to address - especially just a few days from the election...
On a slightly different topic - I'm also intrigued by how candidates don't fully utilize the web to get their message out. The first place I thought to go look for a response from Melina on this whole Hollywood Bar & Filmworks thing was her website. I don't actually expect she would have any type of response up so quickly, but I was surprised to see that she has 2 pages of her website that appear were being updated with new information until the end of August. Her "Media Center" and the "Neighborhood Notes" sections....NOTHING new has been added in the last few months...what the heck?
I don't claim to know the first thing about how to best reach the largest number of voters, but you wouldn't think it would be that hard to keep the website updated - right now it appears like it was abandoned as a tool for getting her message out...
I read his manifesto. He has a good point. I live in Broad Ripple and we used to go downtown a lot more than we do now. The very reason we steer clear is that we never know what parking will cost. Will it be $1 or the special event rate? I have no clue. Most nights we find metered parking further out (say, by the state buildings) that is free after 6:00 pm, but that involves a many block walk, not always a good solution.
He's also correct about the special treatment given to the Simons and Irsay.....it's unbelievable how our money is padding the bottom line of wealthy millionaires. Both the new Colts stadium and the new Simon HQ make me sick.
I was ticked off at Melina Kennedy already for giving up that parkland to Simon. While I love the look of their new building, it was just too much of a sweetheart deal, especially considering the sweetheart deal they got with Conseco fieldhouse. I'm voting for Brizzi.

You say you are a runner? You can't walk a few blocks?!
Oh, like I said..."not always a good solution". That could mean on a rainy day....lots of snow...carrying a half dozen packages from the mall....you get my drift.
"Very few people OPPOSED to a candidate, or even neutral, have the desire/initiative to seek out their websites. Only their Believers do that. So why waste time preaching to the choir ? TV ads, particularly misleading attack ones are The Vogue. And they make me HATE all professional politicians, and lessens my respect for the candidates that allow such ads in their names."
That is possibly a valid insight...however I'm someone that is just looking for information about certain candidates so I can make an educated decision. I would assume their website would be one place to find their positions on issues - coming directly from their mouths and not twisted around like they end up in the smear campaigns.
What resources do you use to research the candidates?
Total lack of prosecutorial experience or lawyering in general...That hasn't stopped Andrew Coumo from running for NYS Attorney General. And his name is a lot more well known. He'll win b/c people don't realize Pirro thinks better on her back then on her feet.

I've got quite the dilemma here. Bob Kennedy's wife is running for prosecutor here in Indianapolis. She's never been a prosecutor, so experience is an issue. She's well spoken, seems driven, and I'm thinking of voting for her simply because she's Bob's wife. OTOH, the incumbent is a balding, jovial, experienced guy. What to do!?
vote for Kennedy.....her hubbie did pretty well in his first crack at a NCAA Cross Country championship!!
