What is your most productive/proudest workout as a runner? Maybe a staple workout in high school or college or even after? What made it so tough and why are you most proud of it?

Its nothing special but
10 times 400 with minute break at 2 mile pace. I ran a PR two weeks later
I once ran 5 x 1000 meters, averaging 2:57 with a one-minute recovery jog. After I completed the workout, I posted a question on letsrun.com, asking everyone what they thought I could run for a 5K.
The most optimistic reply projected that I could run 14:45. I now consider that time my official 5K PR, even though I have never broken 16 minutes in an actual race.
I am very proud of that 5 x 1000 meter workout.
hahha is that serious?
u think just because u ran 5x1000 u automatically can run 14:45. They only said that because 2:57 x 5 = 14:45. Thats a good workout but idk if its enough to constitute a 14:45 a 16 minute. A 14:45 5k guy would prob run 5x1000 in mid-high 2:40's

Look, I don't care if a 14:45 guy would "prob[ably] run 5x1000 in mid-high 2:40's." I don't know (or care) what someone would "probably" do. I *did* run 5 x 1000 in 2:57. I was told on this board that this is worth a 14:45 5K, so that is my 5K PR. Deal with it.

HAHAHAHA I love it. I think this is my new favorite post.
haha
We had this course we ran workouts on in college, I'm not sure how long it was, but if it wasn't easy to go sub-4 on it. I went sub 4 multiple times in one workout, and I was in the best shape of my life at the time. It would be nice to get there again some day.
my freshman year of college at Humboldt State we did 3x2miles on track. At the time my two mile P.R. was 10:01 and my splits were 10:14, 10:11, and 10:07. There was a 5 minute rest in between. That was the work out I feel the most prooud of.
6by400m in 67 each saving nothing expecting this to be the whole workout then 6 by 200m all out averaging with 29's and a 27 thrown in
6x1200 was pretty grueling for me. The coach wanted them at about 3:45 (5 min/mile pace)... gets tough quickly when your current PB was ~4:45. Hit ~3:55 for them all though. Unfortunately, it was pretty much a race effort for that day. Oh well, live and learn. Luckily, it was early in the season.
my best workout was 20 x 200m with 30 seconds rest averaging 29.5 seconds for each 200m.
lol you need to run 14:45 for 5k for it to be your PR. bottom line...
I ran a downhill leg of the Sawtooth relays that was 6 miles in 27:30ish. Thats one of the best things I've done timewise but it absolutely tore my quads to shreds afterwards. It was also my second (last) leg after already running once earlier. I'm rather proud of that one.
I ran a 3 mile tempo on the track in 14:53, 2 lap jog, 1600 in 4:24, 2 lap jog, then 4 400's in around 63ish. It was one of my big breakthrough workouts. I had never quite done anything like that before.
We did this Vo2 Max workout on the track my senior year of high school where we were supposed to do an all out 3,200 take ten, then do a 1,600 at 5K pace, take five, and then repeat the mile again.
I ran the 3,200 equal to a personal best and spent the rest of the afternoon throwing up. It was the one time in my high school career my coach let me cut a workout short.
A 24 miler in 2:38 which felt easy. Proved to me that I could do a good Thon. (I didn't.)

Did you read what I wrote, ass runner? I *completed* five 1K repeats, averaging 2:57 with a 1-minute rest (actually, it was more like a 2-minute rest after repeats #3 and #4) between each. When I asked--on this board--what that workout was worth, a seemingly knowledgeable person responded with 14:45. That's it. That is my official 5K PR. End of story.
Um, I've often done sub 3min 1000s off short recovery. Sometimes 5 x 2:54average. PR 14:57. Ammend accordingly.

Look, Skuj, you seem like a nice enough guy. And I admit to being impressed with that easy 24-mile run in 2:38 that you nailed. But you're obviously a bit jealous because of the fact that your 5K PR is 12 seconds slower than mine.
14:57 is a solid 5K time. It is nothing to be ashamed of. All I ask is that you do not ask me to "amend" my PRs because of your inferiority complex.
