He was not the only one to fail. 7 of top 9 in 5k were from altitude schools while the other 2 were altitude born Africans. Best of luck to Dinzeo but he will have his hands full with the RMAC runners.

11 of the 16 entrants were either from altitude or African.
They could have held the race at the Dead Sea and altitude influenced runners would have shown well. No pun intended.
Does anybody else think this year's field, sans a few outstanding performances, is seemingly weak? Let's do the math:
800 - This is probably the deepest of the events, thanks to an absolutely outstanding time put up by Kevin Jewel and an assist from Shippensburg who has seemingly put something in the water of their mid-distance runners.
12 people under 1:56 for qualifying - I'll give the 800 that.
1500 - We all know what Matt Gillette is capable of, and Ryan Spangler seems to be a kid on the right tracks, but there is over 3 seconds drop between 5th and 6th.. with 6th being at 3:58. Unimpressive.
3k Steeple - Another wholly underwhelming field, only salvaged by a decent showing from Mitch Miller and Clint Keller this weekend, who knocked out provos/top 15 national times
5k - Obviously, Dinzeo will go untouched here. I realize his time his pretty phenomonal, but 2nd place is at 14:49? You've got to be kidding me.
10k - A time we'd expect from Alex Monroe, and an early season provo from Dinzeo are all we have in this event, which boasts only 5 runners under 32 minutes, 3 of which are high 31s. Again, you've got to be kidding me.
Unless the times start dropping dramatically the next few weeks, we could be looking at one of the weakest fields in PSAC history.
While this may be so, there are still a few names on those lists that can run faster. Some seem to have just hit the qual mark for psac's and are waiting for a later meet to run faster.

I do believe that Saparito took more than the allotted amount of steps on and inside the line. Therefore his time should not have counted and he should have been DQ'd. I do not understand how the officials did not see this.
Page 55 of the current NCAA rules manual
Section 5 - Running Violations
Article 3 - Races not in lanes
Rule e. the referee, after consulting with the appropriate officials, shall disqualify a competitor who steps on or over the curb with two consecutive steps of the left foot.
it is easy to see there was a violation. i'm glad there was no DQ, that was a solo 1:52 effort and deserves to be recognized, not punished for an incredibly minor violation that had little to do with his performance.
Man this thread got boring, no posts in over a week. Only a week prior to PSACs no predictions being made. well i guess ill start it off.
800-Jewel
1500-Gillette
5k-Dinzeo
10k-Monroe
Steeple-Miller
4x8-Ship
I doubt Monroe will run the 10k with nationals 2 weeks later, same with Dinzeo, Fezza is a possibility there then
Boom goes the dynamite!!!!!
8- kehl
15-gelete
5k- gelet
10k- fezza
The ship will sail to victory!
the 10k list is really weak entries wise.
The 800 is strong entry wise, but very sparse at the same time. Should be a good one!
A good bit of surprises at the meet, especially in that men's 1500! Good job to all who competed at the PSAC Championships!
This will be the last team title for Ship for a while. They lose all of their big points. Thank goodness because I'm getting quite tired of their annoying antics!
Ship scored 178.5
Loses
Kirkland - 10 in 100m and 10 in Long Jump
Flott - 8 points in 800m
Gillette - 1 point 1500m
Waithe - 10 points (assuming transfer)
DeBoer- 4 points
total lost - 33
Slippery Rock scored 172
Loses
Chisom - 8 in 100m and 1 in 200m
Jewel - 10 in 800m
Koksal - 2 points
Geisler - 8 points in 110h and 5 in 400h
Geddis - 5 points in steeple
Daugherty - 10 points in PV
Toms - 14 points in throws
Kelly - 4 points
Carr - 3 points
Greenslade - 6 points in decathlon
total - 70 points
Without the breakdown - ship's women lose 65 points while Kutztown will lose 28 points.
What makes you so certain this will be Ship's last team title? Assuming the results are accurate with each athletes age, they look like they could win titles on both sides next year.
I don't give a flying fu*% who wins. Unless carbon monoxide strikes again, ship will probably still win because Nigel Thornberry will pull something or someone out of his butt. Just as long as steph pryor is still running her beautiful, tasty booty around that track I'll be happy. On a side note, it was awesome seeing a few favorites tank and watching boro distance dominate. If you saw Logan Kempneys f, you'd poop your pants. good day
Was anyone else suprised by the mansfield women?
I believe they went out pretty early and got some time in at the altitude. Times weren't blazing, but Edwards and Scordino both seemed to react better to the altitude than all the other PSAC distance runners. Pretty funny to see Mansfield finish ahead of all the PSAC schools in the "team" standings at nationals though.
So now that Nationals is over, and it's into the summer training/road races, I'm curious. Any former PSAC runners doing anything? Neely Spence is running professionally, Nick Hilton seems to be trying, Ben Hahn is fishing and has his Mancos project, Chris Clark? Is he still out there? Most have started careers I am sure, but who is still trying to live the dream?
Yea or Monroe for losing to Gillette in indoors!!
