Perfect conditions? Really? It was windy as hell and absolutely freezing. What race were you watching?

I'm not buying it either.....ESU on the rise? Please, a rise to what? Getting completely dominated this Cross Country season? Ship, Lock Havens, and Edinboro's number eight guys would be Esu's number one. Their distance program is the reason they lost PSAC's this year.
ESU in on the rise to....being more mediocre than they already are. Lets face it, they suck. Fezza peaked for what looks like the Millersville meet in outdoor, haha real smart. Laria just flat out choked, you can easily blame their loss on the distance guys. If they would have done even half descent, Ship wouldn't have won.
how much wind do you think he felt running in that pack? no argument that it was cold. that race went out fast. with a ship guy off the back. several boro guys in the race and johnson from lock haven running fast. laria was in that group every time around never got caught by the ship guy, beat several of the boro guys. so again, anyone who says he didn't run 30:50 did not watch the race.
i don't expect esu to challenge for a spot this year, but they are relatively young and qualified 3 or 4 guys in the 5k. plus fezza and a decent recruiting haul. they are improving. esu, ville, and cal are the teams with the recruits and current talent to make a challenge if they continue building.

You're right..Ship, Lock Haven, and Edinboro are in big trouble. Due to the fact that they constantly dominate, they will never get the eyes of better recruits. The teams who constantly lose are the teams who are getting all the studs.
the discussion was on teams who could break up the big 3. i am offering up some opinions on that. no one brought in an athlete the caliber of monroe, armstrong, or beardsley like the big 3 did. but there are a few teams who can hope to close the gap.
10 years ago lock haven was an afterthought. the blood and cowan lead team changed all that and they have been a contender since. other programs are capable of making that jump.
i have not said it will happen this year. if you look back i predicted haven to win conference and ship to win regionals this fall.
Looking strictly at track times this year I would say Haven is the clear favorite. Three guys provisional in the 10K plus 14:35 Zondlo and 9:19 steeple from Miller.
Now who gets that second spot?
Lets look at Boro. Hahn(unattached) and McL run provisional times with two others running around 31:10ish in the 10K. Also Anderson 14:45ish 5k, 9:20ish steeple, and one other 9:20's steepler.
Now Ship. Stetler's 10K at PSACs was only standout time. However 5 sub 15 5k guys is quite outstanding and especially with 5 more sub 15:25.
Ship has the speed which definitely helps in the 10K but they havent proved themselves over that distance while Boro has. It will be close and I believe the conference has 3 potential top 8 teams come December however only 2 will have the chance. If I had to place bets I would say Boro over Ship since they always get the job done come regionals. Its gonna be a great year for PSAC XC.
What happen in the Women NCAA 5,000 to Bizzari and Blood?
"Ship has the speed which definitely helps in the 10K but they havent proved themselves over that distance while Boro has"- This was your quote....Here is my rebuttal, I'm not even going to sit here and waste my time arguing this, I would just ask you to look up the results from Regionals last year. Now,let's strictly look at track times here.
Lock Haven- Nick Hilton- 8:53, AJ Johnson- 30:20's, Tim Getz- 30:50's, Mitch Miller-9:22, Nathan Zondlo-14:35....Problem here, they all blow up when it matters...except for Hilton, and LH loses Jed Yeatts, and Pomerantz.
Ship- Sean Stetler-14:32 5k, Bryan Beegle-9:14 steeple, Josh Neyhart- 3:48 1500, Matt Gillete- 14:50's, Stephen Schelander-14:50's, Jake Sitler-9:23 steeple. A few others placing in the 10k at PSACS. Sean, Bryan, Josh, and Jake all getting provisionals for Ship. Usually a powerhouse when it comes to showing up.
Edinboro- And about Edinboro, I heard rumors Hahn might not return, and Barry M and Scott Anderson ran great at PSACS outdoors...thats right, no they didn't. But, Edinboro usually always fills the spots and will definitely be a top contender at PSACS.
After that...I can't really clearly say who I think will go to nationals.
I can think of a few situations of a few of the Ship guys you mentioned blowing up when it matters, as well as a few of the Haven guys you mentioned. Boro hasn't really showed up for track in a long time.
It has been a long time since the conference has produced a top 8 team on the men's side (04?) to think there will be two this year is optimistic. One would be nice.
Word on the street is Ed Buck from ship is transferring to ESU after having disagreements with the coaching and team. He was All-Regional last year in cross country and also 4:10 and 1:52 indoors. This could change some things up with what ESU has coming back already.
This is going to be an Epic year!
Yeah....thats not happenin'...can guarantee that one.
no. no. buck is headed to the rock. after indoor nats they convinced him to transfer there.
I heard he was going to Clarion.
he's going to IUP you clowns.
somebody has to replace those mediocre Kenyans they poached.
You guys are forgetting about Rissell from Ship, he was Ship's #2 guy last year. Some problems outdoors it seems like but you have to add him in there for sure. Neyhart and Sitler haven't proven themselves to be any good in XC, so that could hurt them,
Edinboro, well they are always strong in XC, that's obvious. But, while they are busy drinking and being lazy during track and having their guys run 32:30 at PSAC's in the 10k, Haven and Ship are slowly improving and moving past them. Sweet, they run fast as heck in the first meet of the year, but what do they do after that? I'll tell you, absoulutely nothing. Running is about progression, and they just don't do that like Haven or Ship, which is why both of those teams are going to beat them in XC. Unless they can get Hahn back and Barry McG can run like he did last year, they are toast.
Haven had one hell of year in track. ALL of their guys ran fast and they are in my opinion the team to look out for and the team to beat. They could easily go 1, 2 at regionals with Hilton and AJ.
My prediction:
1. LHU
2. Ship
3. Edinboro missing out of nationals for the first time in a long time.
In order for Ed Buck to stay academically eligible at any PSAC school, he would need a group of 24/7 tutors comprised of steve jobs, bill gates and stephen hawking. Maybe just MAYBE then could be gain the eligibilty to run another season in any sport. I think we have seen the last of Ed in the conference.
Laraia actually ran something like 31:40 at Bucknell, but they accidentally credited him with a 30:56 cause they screwed up some of the times
I heard that Buck got most of his workouts in "chasing little Eddy around." It makes sense as to why he started sucking when he did. He was running well until he dumped his baby's mamma and started partying 5 days a week. I heard was laying some small pipe though... at least he was enjoying himself. Watch out ESU ladies - Big Eddy is lookin to put that second car seat in his mom's explorer.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
