If by sick, I really hope you don't mean you'll add some music to it. Music rarely does much for cross country except in short clips, and I would rather watch a race than clips.

then what are runnerspace and flotrack videos?
Yay for IUP not sucking horribly this year!

Not trying to rain on your parade, but Russell is far from "one of the best" coaches in the northeast. Have you ever met him? He slobs the knobs of his top guys and treats the rest of his team like an afterthought. Plenty of past runners will attest to that. Go ahead and ask them.
He gets decent high school talent and produces a decent Division II team. That's it. I could do that and I've never coached a day in my life. Look at how Lock Haven stacks up against real teams every year when they run Paul Short and the Penn State meet. They get embarrassed.
Russell brings nothing new to the table. He's mediocre at best.
Four east region championships in his seven years of being head coach is not a bad resume. Also, he is one of the nicest guys you will meet. From what I saw he treated all his athletes with respect. By the way, I was one of his mediocre runners. Furthermore, Lock Haven is a very small state school (little scholarship money) that competes very well with big name schools. Finally, Haven actually competes in both track and cross unlike thier neighbors to the northwest who are only competitive at cross (sacrificing non-distance track scholarships?) Thus, considering all of this the program Russell has built at Lock Haven is "one of the best" in the northeast.

I'd say Russell has done pretty well at the Haven. I agree with 411. Since when do early and mid-season meets have anything to do with how well his teams have done at the end of the season? He is probably one of the best administrators in any division (1, 2, or 3). He does not get much $ to work with. He is at one of the smaller schools in the conference. There are a number of good coaches in the PSAC and he is certainly right up there. Every team has races where they may be off, but you stick with it and hope it goes better the next time. Russell had the guys ready to run and they believed in themselves. They had a heck of a race yesterday at Slippery Rock. My hat's off to everyone involved with that team. There is a lot of good to say about Lock Haven and the atmosphere that is now there. The team has character and it seems it keeps getting passed on down the line. By the way, I believe Lock Haven had a winner at the Penn State National 2 years ago! Please keep your little sexual innuendos in check here Mr./Ms. maine is lame. You just lowered yourself to doormat status. Kinda sounds like you're already wet from the rain on your own parade! When you put the whole package together with what Russell has done, and is doing, does he deserve accolades? You bet he does. This does not resemble a parade, It's much more like a mission. You keep the journey going.
My first official visit to this blog since May. Congrats to all the men and ladies of the PSAC and region. It was a pleasure competing with all of you in such a great CC conference. Congrats to Haven and Boro men, ROCK and Ship women. To Tina Yi, Jo, Priscilla, My man Clark, and my best mate Jeff, see you at NCAAs in the ROCK. Lets show DII what we're all about, now its time to race. Live, Love, Fight. Stay True. --Pat
btw, anyone know where/what ryan blood is up to? a great spring track ended in injury (again). i expected to see him do something this fall - roads, marathon, something. man, i hope he didn't hang them up...
i heard that he was off training for a WR attempt in the beer mile
I will dominate ryan blood in a beer mile....word
Where are the parties going to be at in the Rock for nationals? Beer Mile?!?
He is the GA at Kutztown now...he ran unattached at the Lafayette meet in October...not sure what his plans are though for racing...
Yeah, flotrack videos and stuff get old after a while. Each person tries to find a new hip song to put footage to that they think few people have heard.
Now, I love seeing footage as much as the next guy. AND, I LOVE to hear that someone is excited about editing a xc video. We need more people like you.
I think what makes races cool is lots of footage - not just some footage with music to it. Yes, I have attempted these things. I know it's no easy task. This is what I found, which (especially at the Rock course) is very hard, but worth it if you can pull it off:
Get a few people to help you out on the taping. I'm sure you can find a couple of people who have a video camera. Even having three cameras compared to one makes such a difference. It's real cool to see footage, but somewhat boring when it's one camera zooming in a quarter mile and just panning forever, you know?
Rock is such a hilly course, and has that sweet castle, so you could get some sweet shots. Approach it like you were taking still pictures. How cool would it be to see the runners up close coming through the castle? Or running towards a camera up a hill?
Maybe you've done all of this already, and I'm just rambling and pissing you off more. Even more so, I should probably just be grateful for the work you are doing since I cannot travel to PA to watch the races, instead of writing this.
All I'm saying is that you seem like someone who is very eager and motivated to compile a cool race to watch. I'm just trying to add some input. Please don't take personally. This was not my intension if it has come out that way.
Best of luck (if you're running or just manning the camera(s). Looking forward to watching the races!

My guess is that these board is so silent now because the 2 teams least likely to talk crap on it made it to nationals.
We should be discussing how we think the teams will do at nationals.
Haven 9 - 12
Boro 10 - 15 (depending on Hankins' recovery from his kidney stone according to
, my guess is that he will be good to go)
AA from the conference Clark, Hahn, Weiss, Reagan, Getz, and Hilton.
I take back Getz and Hilton from my AA prediction...i think getz will be close but lose it near the end. Boro's McLaughlin will get it, because he will kick his way into the status just like me kicked past Getz at the end of Regionals
I was at the regional race, and watched how pitiful the field really was. I give props to Clark for running away from the field early, looked like a tempo run for that guy. Reagan should have stayed back 20 runners to save energy on the first hill, hopefully he will do so at nationals. Weiss ran strong, as he has been getting progressively better over the past 5 weeks, look for him to finish high. Ben Hahn ran well, look for him to be a contender for the national title in coming years.
The lot of the runners however were pretty pathetic, and it showed how poor D2 championships really are. I only wish that there were a Major championship race was comprised of D1,D2, and D3 teams, just so the world could see how mediocre all of you crap talkers are.
And who are you? Surely someone with the gravitas to come on here and denigrate most of the conference must have been a standout athlete in his day. Come now, reveal your name and let us, the people, decide whether you are worthy of leveling such accusations. Until you do so sir, you have no business hiding in the shadows slinging mud at others. If no other information is presented from you, it merely makes you look weak, childish, and irrelevant.
Clark is also a 5th year senior. He wasn't even close to being that good his Freshman and Sophomore years.
shows what hard work and dedication can do
he seems to be much more humble than those with "natural talent", those that throw fits when they lose or make a scene when they win
i'm also not saying that he has no natural talent, he just tapped resources some do not need to use
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
