10 AAs for the region
10 AAs for the region
Way to go Atlantic region, and east coast in general. NYU ran great, 4 AA's and were far and clear of everyone but Calvin. Most years 5 in the top 50 has you right there to win it, Calvin was just stacked this year. I think NYU ( and Cortland) will be right there to give calvin a run next year. ALL the NYU bashers, saying they would fold and get their asses kicked by the upstate schools, should be as vocal in your praise.
track season just around the corner.
all prais to allah! can tcnj get any love on this board?
New Jersey ran very well today.
Lets be happy with the way our teams ran. Id say everyone of the Men's Atlantic Region teams ran very well except for Geneseo because we know of that team's potential.
Kudos to everyone!
The guy from Vassar ran great, I notice...
Wow, this thread is one of the biggest on the board and has been going since the summer. Any SUNYAC runners who saw Beaver Island Park should have had fun on the course from the looks and reports of all the mud. I would have liked to see DeShane take it all but AA and top 15 is certainly a solid end to a very impressive career. Great bounce back race by Shamus too. Way to represent the ATL!
I Can't wait to see what next year brings with the return of most of NYU and Cortland's runners and a whole track season inbetween.
cortland eats baby diapers and is on the rise but geneseo will rock in track.
If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.
uh, looking at this season geneseo's distance guys will get KILLED by cortland in track. They have no spriters or thorwers, and cortlands jumpers and distance are better. SUNYACs is gonna be ugly.

Well, I'm pleased to see that the uncharacteristic all-for-one, one-for-all attitude that we've seen on this thread (for the week between Regionals and Nationals) didn't last through Nationals weekend. Already the trash talk for the next season begins.
I'll contribute (and maybe push this thread to 50 pages): does NYU (men) have a prayer of finishing top-three in the UAA? Can strong distance runners propel them to that high a finish?
And also: whom do you like for x-c 2007? What teams are on the rise, and which will get hit hard by graduation? Pick your "dark horse" favorite now, to reserve bragging rights for next fall!
By "next season" I meant "indoor track"--just clarifying, in case that wasn't obvious...
NYU doesnt have the facilities or coaches to have a well rounded team, and they dont really try or pretend from what i can tell. I do know they can get top 3 at UAA if all their 800 and up people are healthy, but I also know their coach wont run guys into the ground a week before NCAA's just to come in 3rd instead of 4th. They have alot of guys, more than just the top 5 at ncaa cross, who will run some good times indoor and outdoor. Many failed to notice how well they ran last may and again this fall, good handling of his athletes to have them ready when it counted. Some on here have liked to accuse nyu of not being ready when it counted in the past, blaming coach mcdonough, well maybe it was just the type of kids he had as he was building their program back up.
Early XC 07 outlook.
NYU- should return all but 1. Popeson and Mcgrane should be better than they ran this season 4 AA's this year.
Cortland- return all but Cloke, will keep getting better with alot of jr. and sophs next year. 08 wil be their BIG year
TCNJ- lose 2 of top 7, but have 2 AA's back, guys going are nameless/faceless types easily replaced
RIT and Geneseo each lose some BIG firepower.
Sleeper Team- SLU
Major Rebuild- Plattsburgh Men, lose Deshane and Asher. Not alot behind them. They werent really the "best" 1-2 punch people talked about, way back on page 20ish or so.
I know this was Deshane's 5th year in XC, can anyone tell us if he is all done, or does he have track seasons left this year?
thanks
50+ or bust
TCNJ loses 1, not 2. If you look at the results, their frosh ran at regionals, but was replaced at nationals by someone else (who was a junior). So they return 7 of their 8 for next year. Should be a nice 3 way battle between them, NYU and Cortland.
DeShane is done running for the Cardinals, he'll graduate in December. Watch out for Plattsburgh women next year-- return Wisowaty, and Busby coming back along with Modzel. They're gonna be tough, especially if they recruit well.

Yeah, Colin ran tough. This is a guy whose PR before this season was above 27 minutes.
Not only that, but he improved a lot as the season went on. How does a guy go from running 27s to 25s in one season? Did he have bad luck with injuries in the past?
Also, as far as next year goes, obviously NYU, Cortland, and TCNJ will be tough but Geneseo should be up there as well. They have a bunch of solid freshman that didn't get the chance to run in the championship races.
Geneseo also recruited that guy from Warwick who runs I think a 22.0 47.x and 1:52.x so I wouldn't say that their sprints are going to be lacking either. I heard somewhere that he got hurt? Anyone know what is situation is going to be for track?
the word around sunyac's coaches is that now shamus nally jerry greenlaw from cortland and jesse berube from geneseo will not be participating in track both indoor and outdoor due to the fact that they will be out of the country in south america building churches for children. what a classy group of guys and best of luck
