Any truth to the rumor that Cortland will be resting their top men this weekend and not run them at states?

Gonna be a fun trio race between Cortland, Geneseo, and RIT. If Nate Lowe can regain his form from earlier this year, the Tigers may be able to pull off the upset and take this meet. I think Cortland might back off the throttle a bit this week and really attack the Regionals with everything they've got. They have so much talent and are so deep that they can afford to do that. RIT and Geneseo arent quite as deep.
I fully expect St. Lawrence to be just off the pace of the top 3 on their home course. Brockport should be a solid five and then it gets pretty interesting for 6-10th. I wouldnt be that surprised to see any of the teams i listed get 6th.
What about Nally and Beringer??
The big questions circle around if Cortland and other will race their full A teams or if they will race all out as opposed to a strategic or controlled race of sorts. I'd guess that qualifing for and running well nationals rank higher in importance to the likes of Cortland and Geneseo. DeShane isn't even racing this weekend and without knowledge off hand, I'd predict NYU's top guys will not be either.
NYU's men do not belong to the NYSCTC. The women do. I believe the Men run in the NY Met's league.
I would think the schools that pay money to compete in this conference of schools would run to win, years past they have all run.
Yeah Plattsburgh (Deshane) isn't in the NYSCTC either I think thats what haywood meant when he posted.
Looks like Geneseo paran together and packed it up nice. Nice comeback race for mr lowe. Anyone like to give some play by play of how the race went? Lowe i would trust your analysis more than most, 1 cause you were near the front most of the way i assume, and 2 cause your not the typical letsrun poster clown.
did St Lawerence hold people out, or are they hurt? anyone know?
163 hours, the biggest question will be, what kind of shape will the course be in? pray for "no" precip this week
Has anyone seen the ladies results?
Nevermind, found them.
Does anyone know why Mike McGrath did not run for Geneseo? All the other runners ran for Geneseo, just wondering...
he was accidently left off state roster, and wasn't allowed to run.
Wow, Tillipaugh gets left off the roster for outdoor statees last year and now this. Someone is awefully forgetful over at Geneseo.
Congrats to Ithaca for rising to the occasion. If Ben Roque wasn't coming off of injury they might have had 3rd.
OH, no i knew that Plattsburgh isn't a part of States.... I was talking about Nationals!
with mcgrath added in there geneseo is right back where they were at the begining of the year and look ready to go back after cortland and NYU. RIT wasn't even close today. The atlantic region could have 3 in the top 5 at nationals if they all run to their potential.
The NYSCTC is BS when it comes to their administration. If a kid gets left off a roster, fine the hell out of the coach but let the kid run for cryin out loud.
If this was the SUNYAC meet, McGrath runs. The SUNYAC is for the athlete; the NYSCTC is for punishing the athlete to get at the coach.
I saw Donohoe at the course today, he was in jeans though. I heard him mention something about a pulled muscle or something like that... no idea if thats the actual case, and if so, if he'll be back. Hope so, I hate to see someone go down so late in the season.
Geneseo definitely rocked the pack today, and Cortland rocked the... not bringing their A team thing. I was a little disappointed, but thats ok, we'll see them next week.
The course itself wasn't too bad- the grass field was kinda sloppy, but nothing like Hamilton was last year, and the trails were bone dry. Conditions were cool, mostly cloudy, maybe a little breeze. After the gun, Geneseo's pack was right up front for the first couple of miles, and didn't fall too far back over the last three. Jesse took off at about a mile and a half, Stevens followed, but he didn't really seem to be chasing too hard, just following, probably saving up for next weekend like last year. Geneseo ran really well today, it should be an interesting race once they get their whole team together and start duking it out with Cortland and NYU.
As far as I know, it is up to the coaches within the conference whether an athlete not on the roster is aloud to run or not, they vote whether to allow the athlete, so it is the coaches in the conference, not the actual conference itself that is BS. This is third time in one year that this has happened to Geneseo, last year at the State meet the same thing happened, Geneseo's 10th man was left off the roster (Derek Zellfrow(sp?)), outdoor states Tillagaugh was left off the roster, and now this year McGrath, whats up with the coaching staff at Geneseo? That is completely uncalled for. If I was McGrath I would be extemely pissed off, missing senior year state meet. Are coaches left unpunished for mess up like these???
