luv2run, doesn't it depend on your definition of anaerobic? after all, all races shorter than a Marathon rely on lactate as the main fuel source.

I missed this article- do you have a link? Thanks!!
I, too, am a high school coach and am putting the finishing touches on phases 3 and 4 for the season. Just trying to review as much literature as I can before I can comfortably say done.
Jtupper (and anyone else who wants to weigh in)- I would love your opinion on this, as I have been going over your book this week. I really like doing interval workouts during phase 2. I like this because it seems to give our kids some confidence in early season races (we are a developing program). But, phase 2 also takes us up to the first 2 weeks of competition. After that, are the races serving as psuedo VO2 Max workouts (I think you said this in an earlier post)? We also use T(hreshold) workouts during phase 2.
During Phase 3, we do R(epeat workouts) and continue T(hreshold) workouts- so, we have basically flipped your phase 2 and 3. We will race 2 out of every 3 weeks, so we will do I(nterval) workouts during those off weeks too.
Thanks for your input and your posts here.
