Does anybody know what the class records are for the 5k? I'm looking specifically for the sophomore class records. I thought I found it on Milesplit with a 14:02 by Edward Cheserek and then a 14:08 by Ferenc Kovacks. Both these guys, however, were international and at least a year old for their grade. 3rd, according to Milesplit, is just 14:25 which seems way too slow for the class record. Is anybody aware of a sophomore running faster than 14:25? Thanks in advance for any help or info!

I believe cheserek turned 18 in February of his senior year which is a pretty normal age for a high school senior. I think you’re really only old for your grade if you are already 18 going into senior year, he was 17 for over half of it

9-10 5k records are soft as hell. Nobody cares clearly.

The event is rarely run. Most kids do only one per season at either indoor or outdoor nats.
On girls side so far Leachman, Cook, Touhy, Hutchins, Cain only ran 1 5k track race in their entire HS career.
