When he makes his move at 200 it looks like he's shot out of a cannon. Looks like he's running the last 200 of a 400 and the other dudes are finishing a 1500.
Athletics dot net is a garbage site. World Athletics posts actual birthdates.
You should have provided a link before demand that others not provide comments. You must be new here -- this site is filled with misinformation posts. LRC has taken to adding links to prevent such problems. So, newbie, take note, "otherwise, please don’t comment."
Amazing but he still looks old for his age and more physically developed than his peers. It is certain that he will improve albeit at a slower rate and perhaps even flirt with the HS record at some point down the road. Still, it is difficult to extrapolate that he will be a medal contender in his 20s.
Another classic situation -- kid with talent develops early -- crazy expectations are placed -- ends up improving by a second over the several years -- goes to P5 school -- reliable conference scorer and DMR leg.
Actually, his attempt to pass inside at 550m was a rookie mistake, but he had money to burn and went around. He will get more savvy With experience. Most of his races until now have been essentially time trials (plus his actual midwinter time trials) from what I've seen.
I have put a link to his final 200m in the first post of this thread. Also I have deleted a ton of posts where people claimed he's old for his grade. That's not true. HIs DOB is December 19, 2008. He's 15 like most US HS freshmen. I also added the stuff in () to the title. And we've merged a 2nd thread into this one.
This isn’t china. You shouldn’t be deleting any posts. WTF?
I’m amazed by the ratio here. 2 thumbs up/ 22 thumbs down so far. I guess censorship is popular with runners. This site has one guy that with the power to decide what is allowed and what isn’t based on his whims. Sure, the posts he deleted *in this thread* had incorrect information. He also deletes and changes posts simply because he doesn’t agree with them. Funny… I thought conservatives were *for* the first amendment and against censorship and the outright changing / doctoring of other peoples posts.

Agreed. The performance was admittedly stunning. And it is hard to argue that he didn't have a little more in him. Still, progression can be a funny thing. You think, huh, freshman runs 1:49 with relative ease, so he's bound to be running 1:44 before he graduates HS. I mean, that would be cool, but not the most likely scenario.

I think he could run easily run 1:48 low in a pro/college race rn. He went out in 55.2
He's already tall and will probably get quite a bit taller. Not a problem. He is over three months younger than the cutoff for freshmen, so age is not a concern for further development or the validity of this record at 15 1/2 years old. Watching the race tells you that he can run 1:47, because not only did he negative split by a second, in a race where a 2 second positive split is about ideal, but after trying to go inside and then slowing down to go outside with 220 to go, he sped up from 55.4/28.9 to 25.6. That shows he had an enormous amount left in the tank at 600m. That pace was very easy for him. He can run 53/54 against collegians or pros now. The kid also looks like he has a great future at 1500m as well. Maybe our next great 800/1500m guy, but obviously that future is uncertain and far away.

I only regret that I have but one downvote to give for this point.

And you believe that D.O.B. because of it was posted somewhere? Do you also believe all of the dobs from all these Kenyans and Ethiopians? Check out the kid's last name. He's clearly German and they're notorious for scaldalous editing of birth dates!!!!!!!!
