400-500 miles in standard Brooks trainers.
I run about 50-80 miles per week during the nicer months.
If the shoe still feels comfortable, I'll retread them using ShoeGoo.
I got a pair of Asics GTS 14 shoes that have been retreaded almost 10 times. Going by that accord, those shoes probably have 3-4k miles on them. They are getting shot though, and I'm probably going to get rid of them this summer. Sure got my monies worth out of them.
+1 on the Shoe Goo. I use it very soon after noticing some wear. It's more to protect the midsole cushioning and to keep the heel level.
It depends on the shoe.
Streak lt 2 - 500-1000 miles
streak lt 3 and 4 - 200-500 miles
saucony sinister - about 500 miles
adizero rocket - don't have any pairs of this right now, but they lasted 2000-3000 miles
nike streak 6 and 7 - 200-250 miles (the uppers rip)
nike mayfly - 60-100 miles
When I first started out being serious about my running (100km+ weekly) I was very punctual about my shoe mileage, rotating shoes etc. Then I realised I spent too much money on shoes, and pushed my “safe zones” (at the beginning it was 500km per shoe-pair) and gradually got to the point where I did not care about how worn down my shoes are. I’ve done 1000+ miles on several pairs of vaporflies. Most got to the point where you could see through to the carbon plate, still felt pretty decent actually.
shoes does matter, but if you think about it, when it comes to injury prevention at least, is the difference between two guys - one at 50km weekly - and another at 200km weekly, just shoes? I dont think so, I’ve done many weeks at 200km on wornout shoes with no problem. I think I could run 300km i crocs and still be fine, while others can’t run more than 30-40km even in fresh shoes
