We could consider the VPN thing. Would be interesting to see what percent of legit posters use a VPN vs what % are just trolls. But people use VPNs for legitimate reasons.
What are you doing about Bots? I see a LOT of varying political posts posted with running tags that are incoherent and clearly posted by either foreign trolls or bots.
Additonally, there are random nonsense posts that open up threads that are over a decade old to sell some stupid scam or drive traffic to shady links.
Also, how do specific people get away with using attacking a certain group of people pretty consistently and never face consequences. (ex. I fully support Palestinians right to self govern etc. but someone with a newname seems to be able to post constantly about a certain group he claims controls the media and never faces any consequence. There is a nuance where you you can support people without targeting others)
Please report any bot posts to us. We ban and delete bot posts every day but rely on people to report them.
We could develop something on the backend to alert us to old posts being bumped. That is something I'll put on the development calendar.
As for Newname, he is one of the most unpopular posters but we believe people have a right to post stuff that is unpopular and that we disagree with. I'm not sure where to draw the line. He gets a lot of posts deleted but I think we're fine with someone saying Jews have a lot of power in the media. I don't want them hijacking threads over and over with offtopic points, but we're going to let more go in political threads. So I guess I'm saying is our general policy is to deal with posts individually but we perhaps could come up with a policy to deal with a posters body of work. Currenly we don't do that but Newname has been banned at times.
Can you pleeeeeaaaaassssseeeeeee actually enforce that posts are tagged to the correct forum? You can talk up that "running threads only" button all you want but as long as the crazy people here mark politics/vaccines/racism as running related, we're all stuck with it!
I've reported posts before for this reason, and even seen individual posts deleted, but the main thread is still marked high school running or whatever.

Personal attacks persist. I have reported many that have not been deleted. I enjoy a healthy dialogue and always am amazed at how quickly people resort to personal insults. The posters seem to think that criticizing runners is the same as personal attacks against posters. Comment about their favorite runner and they respond with an attack rather than a counterpoint or opinion.
I don't remember it and can't find it now either. It was about athletes who have hit the track standard? We could link to this constantly on the homepage or link to the Road to Paris page.
Not often... Yes, rojo said there's one guy in Uganda who apparently needs a VPN to post. So you can make individual exceptions. But otherwise you need to make it at least inconvenient to post constantly from a VPN.

We need to have it so wrong category is a reason a post is reported and then we just reclassify it. Now mods just think the post is reported because people think it should be deleted.

Our audience is very human so you will see them. Keep reporting them.
We generally delete personal attacks between posters but some may fall through the cracks, or occasionally the personal attack isn't the main point of a post and the rest of the post is informative I've left them up before.

I think there are plenty of legitimate reasons to use VPNs today. Why do you want to give your ISP even more personal information about yourself? Why do they need to know I like parties at motel 6 I like to run and what apparel I wear?

Yeah... and just because someone posts "how fast could a professional runner get from their welfare apartment to the motel 6" or whatever garbage they write, that does not make it running related.
Guy who quickly gave up on the running related button.
Oh, and I think it's pretty tacky to allow people to target a middle school transgender kid but you block posts talking about high school doping? Even if you think being trans is a competitive advantage, so is doping but you let one marginalized group get targeted but not potential cheaters (I'm all for not targeting high schoolers, but that policy should be consistent.)

I've definitely seen that suggested before, why hasn't it happened? Too busy complaining about the NFL draft?
Also, why can't the read the comment in the report that mentions it? Is that not viewable to them?

Newname isn't just saying the jews have a lot power in media- they say the jews are running the government, etc. Admittedly most of those posts get deleted, as do the really antisemtic ones he interacts with.
