Bob Sacramento is by far the best. With Kramer as a recruiting coach
Not Sean Carlson.
Ed Eyestone at BYU. Decent guy and gets a lot out of his athletes. Not sure how much longer he will keep coaching as he is almost 63.
Anyone that doesn't put Mike Smith on the list is just trying to be edgy. Best coach right now, just can't seem to put a foot wrong with any of his athletes. Marcus O'Sullivan maybe a sleeper pick, Villanova does a lot with only "4-star" recruits. The Powells also on that list. Ray Treacy for women.
Up-and-coming is hard to say, I'm not sure there really are any up-and-coming coaches. A few years back would've said Mike Smith and Ben Thomas, but neither are really up-and-coming anymore. Diljeet Taylor, much the same. I guess you could say Alex Gibby, although he's also not that new, but his success is. Shalane Flanagan might actually be worth considering, compared to the men's program the Oregon women are actually thriving.
Ed Eyestone seems to be one of the best mentors. Not many coaches beloved by their former athletes to that level. O'Sullivan is also well-regarded.
Best recruiter is Vin, hands down. Jerry probably #2, but Vin just seems to get star recruits wherever he goes, whereas Jerry getting such good recruits can partially be chalked down to the Oregon name.
Good list. Mike Smith is top of the list. Gibby should be up there as well with what he has done at Harvard the past couple of years.
That clean living LDS lifestyle will allow him to keep coaching well into his 90s.
You didn't specify distance coach. The best coach is someone who's familiar with all of the events,, like Mike Holloway or Pat Henry
💯
I'd like to see what Tramaine Shaw from Northeastern could do with relaxed admissions standards, on-campus facilities and an environment with better weather
she seems to do a very good job all things considered
not mentioning Miltenberg would be a crime, awful to top 5 a nats and 6th at xc in less than 5 years
For new coaches, the coach at Penn State who coaches Traore
Nick Stenuf of Alabama hands down.
Saw a video on Flotrack in which he was reminding his Kenyan runner about the many pairs of socks he bought for her, right before a race. Some of the best coaching I will ever see in my lifetime

Diljeet has to be way up there. She gets no name recruits and develops them into stars. She also has success across many event types. Also, although BYU is at altitude, it is not as high as Flag.
Smith is great but he also gets star recruits, top transfers, and is in Flag which is an advantage. He also has not had as much success with developing female athletes, or with a variety of distances (yet) as Diljeet, has he?
Typical distance coaches not understanding other event areas and coaches that actually can recruit, develop and coach Olympic level athletes while in the ncaa. The list should have at least the following names of coaches active in the NCAAs that have won Team NCAA titles while producing major points in their event area plus more:
Pat Henry
Mike Holloway
Wes Kittley
Boogie brothers
Caryl Smith Gilbert
Edrick Floreal
Petros Kyprianou
Vin Lananna
Chris Bucknam
Dennis Shaver
Here is who I would consider the top 30 upcoming coaches (early 30's, late 20's):
Laura Bowerman Air Force
Annie Richards App State
Kate Bucknam Belmont
Keigan Culler Butler
Lucas Rothenberger Cincinnati
Kelly Hart Colorado State
Matt Lange Furman
Cale Wallace Iowa State
Baylee Mires Louisville
Therese Haiss Loyola Chicago
Aaron Simoneau Michigan State
Erinn Stenman-Fahey Mississpi State
Kyle Levermore Missouri
Jarred Cornfield NAU
Brian Maty New Mexico
Maryn Lowry Northwestern
Megan Slamkowski Northwestern
Emily Hosker- Thornhill Notre Dame
Anna Bears Oklahoma
Anna Thorp Oklahoma State
Griff Graves Pittsburgh
Brian Biekert Southern Illinois
Charlotte Imer Temple
Nic Jacobsen Tennessee
Judy Pendergast Tennessee
Taylor Gulley Tulsa
Charlee Linton Utah
Trevor Dunbar UVA
Matt Valeriani Villanova
Lindsay Crevoiserat Wisconsin
Who else should be included on this list?
Emma Wren of Bradley
Nice list! Props for getting USAFA on it. Not sure about Furman and Louisville though.
Ryan Foster Penn State
