I know a relay split isn't the same as the open 400m, but .. as a fan, I hope he can keep his season going to the US Trials .. and Paris?
If he can split 44.xx in one day, can't we bring him for the relay pool for either the men's or mixed 4x400?
Boling was in the relay pool for last year's WC and has a 45.17 PB. Quincy ran 45.19 in his first outdoor race this season.
I hope he stays healthy - and can carry this form to June and July
The kid (as great as he is) is a HS Soph!! What is your hurry? Seems to me that it is kind of pathetic that in the US (the land of the 400m historically) there is talk of a HS runner making a relay (4x1 or 4x4) team, especially the Olympics. Is the College coaching that bad that at least a dozen kids are not faster than him?!
Do they always start that many 4x400 teams in one heat? That was insane. I know it is only highschool and maybe time constrained to keep the meet going, but it seems there almost has to be some sort of disaster in the first 2 legs with that many starting.
There is one team per lane. So 8 teams or 9 teams in a 4x400 is normal.
Normal but not for this meet.
Also, I think its a bit much to ask these kids to run 2 4x4 races on the same day. Often teams go slower in the final because they are out of gas.
Also, I don't consider the Jamaican "high schools" when I look at the Penn results.
Don't forget that Penn Relays crams those 8 or 9 teams into 6 lanes after the break from the shorter inside lanes. Hence the extra traffic.
On a side note: Quincy has terrible form. He is running sloppy like that and hitting 44.XX twice in one day? Wait until he gets stronger and better running economy. There is 2 more years for Bullis to beat the Jamaicans with this kid around and I can't wait to watch.
In a foreshadowing of what is to come, Quincy's second split was 44.69, which is Darrell Robinsons HSR from 40 years ago!
I think that Quincy's double today even eclipses German Fernandez's epic double at the Cal State meet. The adrenaline alone was enough to crush a normal athlete.I just hope he can stay healthy.

I love German, but you can’t really compare spring phenoms to our American HS distance phenoms. At least not yet.
German’s double was other worldly.
But Quincy ran 44.37r in 52 degree weather T 10am or whatever time it was. That alone is better than German’s double because it’s fringe world class.
Saw race from another camera. The 44.37 was accomplished while running right around 300 meters in lane 2, so about an extra 5 meters in total. Conversion to running entire race in lane 1 is ~43.8.

What are you talking about? I never mentioned German...

He has the Mark Everett/Nigel Amos thang goin on. We probably have to just get used to it.

Guess they shouldn’t have let Sydney McLaughlin run at the 2016 Olympics either, huh
Exactly. If he can hang with the pros, let him try.

It’d be shocking if he spent two more years in high school. This kid is going pro this summer.

nah cuz Quincy on drugs
I don't know how anyone sees the times and age and thinks otherwise. LetsRun is delusional and refuses to believe that anyone dopes.
