If you want to know more about Sarah Billing’s she is the host of a new running podcast called “Spiked up”. She seems like a decent chick - quite modest. Which is a nice balance to the other host of the podcast who appears to be a princess of sorts. Still it’s an enjoyable listen, as it does give some insights into the Nic Bideau / MTC world.
Also Saran ran 2 flat for an 800M a few weeks ago which lines up to a 4min 1500 for a true middle distance runners ability so 3.59 should not be a surprise.
good luck to her, hope she can get some confidence from this run.
Nothing "super wild" about it. Runners have breakthroughs all the time, including your identical twin brother.
Why weldon and not you? At the molecular level you have the same genetics. Four amino acids typing out a genetic morse code. Weldon's the quiet assassin, while you're the relentlessly boastful best coach the ivy league has ever seen.
Out of curiosity, if I send each of you a dna test from CRI Genetics and pay for a "deep dive" would you be willing to publish the results? For the sake of science?
Yes, yes, we want to study the twins!!
They are twins but ROJO is the crazy one. That guy has me laughing every podcast. Him and JG are a classic comedy team
The improvement happened in the course of weeks. Thats not drugs. Not EVERY F"ING IMPROVEMENT IS DRUGS FFS
Maybe, maybe not. But your reasoning doesn't make any sense: suddenly improving from 4:06 to 3:59 for 1500m at age 26 couldn't possibly be a result of PEDs, but happens all the time from a breakthrough in training?
Since I have argued that doping is throughout sports today, and certainly at the top, that is hardly singling anyone out. I would have difficulty arguing with any conviction that any given elite runner today is clean. They may well not be.
Improvements like this happen more often than you think but usually at younger ages. Everyone wants to scream, "DRUGS!" every time some makes a jump. Emily Mackay went from 4:17.37 in 2021 (age 23) to 4:08.97 in 2022 (age 24) to 3:59.99 in 2023 (age 25) to World Indoor Championships Bronze medal in 2024 (age 26).
Deserves a mention that Emily ran 4:25 in 2015 (age 17) and then fell off/stagnated for the next 6 years. That's a time that would indicate elite potential, especially the way that race was run (a dead heat with a U20 world champion at 800). Progression is not always linear.
Similarly, Billings ran 2:03 for 800 in 2017 (age 19) while training primarily as a 400/800 athlete. That indicates elite potential, and not a huge surprise that she followed through years later, even if the intervening years were a bit of a rocky road.
