Middle distance runners were doing workouts: 50 yard, 100 yard, 1 furlong, 1/4 mile repeats for over 225 years. How many on here who are trying look at and copy C Murphy's workouts are capable of running faster 600 yards than Lon Myers, 19th Century sprinter and middle distance runner?
Rudolf Harbig was a 400/800 guy on cinder and heavy leather shoes, 1930-something, a low mileage guy. Maybe you guys should copy Lon Myers and Rudolf Harbig before you worry about copying C Murphy.
Eight-hundred meter runners train as hard as possible until chronic fatigue or partial or complete Achilles tears. Worrying about C Murphy's training will get you no where.
