Hocker is in the updated startlist. It’s him, Teare and a freshman from eastern Kentucky and that’s the heat….. Ben Thomas really loves the 3-5 man time trial. So I’m guessing Hocker is going for the Olympic standard if Teare is pacing?
True. But at least they are also racing outside of this occasionally unlike BTC. Oregon was fun to watch when Ben Thomas was there because his athletes not only time trialed but also raced well and somewhat frequently compared to, for instance, BTC.

I mean the coolest thing would be for them to go to Kenya (Kip Keino)/China (Xiamen and Shanghai) for the high quality 1,500-5,000m races there. Realistically, no US-based athlete is doing that. Many of the top Africans are coming to the LA Grand Prix and Prefontaine Invitational, and it seems like Hocker/Teare will be competing in both (they are advertised for 5,000 at LA Grand Prix). Worthy of criticism if they didn't race there, but this as a qualifier race, so that Hocker can just compete at LA Grand Prix and not worry about blowing up works for me.

Interesting that the heat proceeding their 5k attempt, will include a runner that already has the Olympic 5k standard.
I hope they have pacing lights. I think Hocker is probably in sub 13 shape having broken Galen Rupp previous American record 2 mile. If he does break 13, he will be in great position for Paris and might consider doing the 15/5k double.
