It's a fair prop. Nico has proven to be a sub 27 10k runner. Jakob has not YET, but watching his 5ks and understanding his 10k training, it would not be a shock if he could run a 27 10k with the similar sit and close strategy he uses in the 5.
In a match race, I would bet on Jakob, but it would come down to the final 800. Nico closes better now, so very interesting indeed.
Agreed, an outrageous take. Jakob has been hands down the best 3K/5K runner in the world the last two years. He's obliterated world records and world championship fields. Even though Jakob hasn't raced a 10K on the track, he's easily won a few Euro XC titles. Nico couldn't even win NCAA XC. Nico is running great right now, but he's still not even in the same ballpark as Jakob. The thought that Nico, who is not even a lock to make the US 10K team this year, could beat someone who is head and shoulders better than every American distance runner in history, is just laughable.

He’s 1500/5000m, and given the similarity in the distances, there’s no such thing as a 3/5 runner. He set the WR for the 2000m, but that doesn’t make him a 2000/3000m runner, either.
Why are they still your friend? If my friend said that, I would stay “friends with them” just to never revive them in warzone. Teach them a lesson, make them feel helpless and stupid.
Possibly but I still think Graham will be better than Nico long term.
Really? I think its 50/50 on whether Graham Blanks ever in his life runs 26:52.
Yeah Nico ran the #3 all time American 10000m time ahead of well established pros who can barely get below 27:20 despite multiple sub 27 attempts. He beat out some absolute distance legends who have had ample opportunity with modern training and shoes. And he did it all while still having to (somewhat) balance school and training while most of those guys are full time pro runners.
Blanks may well beat him in a race in the future, but I'm confident Blanks will never run a better 10000m and maybe even 5000m time. Sub 27 and Sub 13 are just mindboggling times for Americans to get.
