Has anyone run in both? How do they compare? I love the Fastwitch Speed for training, but they are hard to find in 10.5, so I may be forced to change.

Can anyone look away from the hotness threads long enough to help a dude out?
My son has been running last few years in fastwitch. You got two ..one lighter ..fastwitch. And then one with a tad more substance tread. My son is overpronator but we needed something low to the ground and light. We picked it cause it "LOOKED LIKE his foot. He refuses other shoes now. However, I like to keep him on dirtroads, and trails cause they were fast! I don't know about Fastwitch II unless you are talking about the other heavier...nah I think they were coming out with a new one. Anyway we will be checking them out, they seem to go ok with my sons ...long narrow and flat arch. he likes them alot. He likes both models also.
I tried both on the other night, just to see what they were about. I think that the original is a better shoe with a better fit. My foot felt like it was sitting on top of a sole in the new one, where it seemed to be more a part of the shoe in the old one. Given a choice...I would buy the old one.
I have both but only use for some track work and races; the Speed for only 5k. In the first 2 5k's, I had some lower leg cramping but not sure if it was related to the shoe. No problems with the other but they run small for me. I think I had to go up one size.
I'm quite fond of the Tangent, which has some unobtrusive medial posting. This new shoe, however, might be good for you.
I thought the Fastwitch Endurance was damn near the perfect training shoe for me. If only the thing wouldn't fall apart on me I'd buy a bunch of them. Unfortunately, I've had 3 pairs and every one of them has torn in the fabric along the outside of each shoe. After the first time, I thought maybe it was just that pair so I tried again: Same result. The 3rd pair I got for free -- I would not have paid for another pair.
Joe,
I like my Fastwitch Speed and agree that it is perfect but for the ripping fabric so I took a hot melt glue gun to them to repair and reinforce the torn parts.
I train in the Loco Xpresso and sometimes Bandito.
I hope they hold up through New Bedford

the fit kinda sucks on the new one. The fastwitch 1 was one of the best fitting flats ive tried on. The new one is sloppy in the forefoot and midfoot. I think the midsole is exactly the same on the new one, just more volume in the upper of the new one.
The Fastwitch feels great to me. I got them 2 days ago and have two runs, albeit abbreviated, under my belt.
I am coming off a long spell of injury related stuff and am going minimalist, starting with a bare bones 1-2 miles a day, alternating the distance. I'm doing the golf ball underfoot and loads of stretching. The golf ball really does make a difference, I was honestly skeptical at first but no more.
Hopefully this plan:
Month 1 - alternate 1 and 2 miles
Month 2 - alternate 1 and 3 miles
Month 3 - alternate 2 and 4 miles
Month 4 - alternate 2 and 5 miles (5K test race)
Month 5 - alternate 3 and 6 miles
Month 6 - alternate 3/6 then a longer weekend run (10K race)
Month 7 - see how things feel
all using the minimalist Fastwitch shoes, will enable me to get rid of this nagging PF. Granted this is a very conservative plan, but I am prepared to be patient and let nature take its' course.
Wow, someone dug up a golden oldie here. For the record, I've really come to like the Fastwitch 2. Still light, but a LOT more durable then the original. I get 200 more miles out of a pair (400-500 miles). Now the sole wears out before the sides rip out. The fit is a little loser, but I've grown accustomed to it. The bastards will probably change this one now that I've gotten used to it.
I bought pairs of Fastwitch Speed and Endurance. The Speed are great but only suitable for 10K and under. The Endurance had the same splitting problems that a lot of other people have described--I sent them back and Saucony sent me a pair of Fastwitch Endurance II. I've done over 150 miles in these on road and track and they are holding up fine. They feel a bit roomier than the original Fastwitch. I prefer the fit of the original ones 'cause they were so tight but obviously no use if they keep falling apart.
I have both. The 2's are def. wider, which stinks for me. I wore them today. THe Fastwitch (1) are awesome. The 2's arent as snug.
i run on a sacuony sponsored club team and pretty much get to pick out what i want. with that said, i have experience with most of their products.
the original fasttwitch speed was awful. i hated it. it was dense, it hurt my feet, and tore up my ankles. the original had a suede liner, and when my feet/ ankles would sweat, it would absorb the moisture. it would dry up slightly and take on an abrasive sandpaper like reaction on my achilles. after a tempo run this summer i got so mad that i threw them away in the trash can outside my car!
the new ones have a micro fiber liner that makes it much more pleasant. i have not run in the fasttwitch speed yet, but i've done a little bit of running in the endurance. aside from the blown rubber outsole (which i do not like) it has a decent ride. i will be wearing it for a half marathon coming up in a few weeks. i'll be runnin this race as a work-out primarily. if i was seriously racing it, i'd probably wear my katana 2 racers.
I think the first fastwitch is way better then the second. I'm on my third pair of the fastwitch endurance. I actually had ordered the fastwitch II and returned it because it was nothing like the originals.
