You suck. Santi’s excelled at Iona for like decade. He tried out BAA when he got the offer. These kids he coaches, most of them are burnt out. Look at the retention rate under Miltenburg, Linanna, etc. You high school fanboys are actually uneducated and stupid. You’re bad for the sport.
Try not to make it so obvious that it's you, Ricardo.
Feel free to disagree with me, but if they went to a pure running school like NAU, then perhaps they would have a more steady progression. but they have to balance athletics and academics.
I have to agree. Stanford is a top academic institution and the degree is valuable. Problem is running while studying. Can be a big challenge.

That's the truth. Even Gold and Gilded Silver Frank Shorter failed to excel nationally until he graduated from Yale. How Graham Blanks does it, I don't know, unless perhaps Harvard is no longer academically demanding.

They still were faster than Nico in high school. I don’t think they will be faster than him, but don’t write them off. Way too premature.
His XC results were basically equivalent to what they were able to do even though they ran slightly faster overall with their RL times.
They were faster because Nico didn't get a senior track season. He would have easily been a 4:00-4:02 miler, 8:35 3200m if given the chance in the April-June meets with proper training.
The notion that Stanford is academically demanding is a myth. Can a certain class be difficult concept wise? Sure, but the workload itself is laughably soft. Once you are admitted it's nothing but paradise. Why people fail at Stanford (running wise) comes down to the opportunity cost that mounts year after year of studying there. Seeing your classmates land offer after offer making 250k+ while you run mediocre times relative to your former high school glory wears on a man. Freshman year this cost is hardly noticeable as everyone in your class is in the same boat when it comes to internships and experience for the most part. However, by junior year the difference becomes painfully apparent that you wasted your time here running in circles when you could have simply been an average student and gone on to have a great career.

It's not just Graham Blanks. Maia Ramsden is doing it at Harvard too. Maybe they are just incredibly smart.
Yeah, Maia definitely does manage to do both. She won the NCAA 90 Elite for highest GPA in her lead up to winning the title that spring. She apparently also wants to get a PhD. This article goes into it more:
When Ramsden leaves Harvard for the real world, she’s planning to be a professional runner. I ask her what she’ll miss most. “I think I’ll miss being super busy, even though it’s hard to imagine right now,” she says. “That’s...
Ricardo Santos just sucks. He sucked at BAA and no one wanted to work with JJ Clark and with that comes a coach named Ricardo Santos. After a while Lex has to either completely give up on running or transfer if he wants running to be a priority
I don’t think he HAS to transfer to run fast. Clearly the Young family is extraordinarily talented, but Lex and Leo need to show more aerobic progression. In one of their YouTube videos they said 85 miles per week is the highest they’ve been running this year.
Despite being controversial on these boards, I think Brosnan is a good high school developer in that he can get his athletes to run extraordinarily quick from 800m to 5k off of 60-70 miles per week. But to develop into a 13:10/27:30 guy you’ve gotta be running triple digit miles or pretty close.
Lex and Leo can’t really respect to turn into 13:10 guys running 85 miles a week at sea level. With their current “progression” they’ll end up being 13:20-25 guys as seniors unless they change something up
Not sure what your running background is, but running 85 miles a week as an 18 year old freshman in college is more than adequate. If you're a graduating senior and are running in the 13:20's you're in a good spot. There's a ton of room for improvement at the pro level if you find the right group and coach.
Very few athletes are going to run sub 13:10/27:00 in college. I think a lot people on these boards don't realize how difficult it is to run fast times at 18 years old.
Ricardo is doing a great job at Stanford. He definitely has some talent and needs to be careful in developing it.
