Ricardo Santos just sucks. He sucked at BAA and no one wanted to work with JJ Clark and with that comes a coach named Ricardo Santos. After a while Lex has to either completely give up on running or transfer if he wants running to be a priority

You suck. Santi’s excelled at Iona for like decade. He tried out BAA when he got the offer. These kids he coaches, most of them are burnt out. Look at the retention rate under Miltenburg, Linanna, etc. You high school fanboys are actually uneducated and stupid. You’re bad for the sport.

I don’t think he HAS to transfer to run fast. Clearly the Young family is extraordinarily talented, but Lex and Leo need to show more aerobic progression. In one of their YouTube videos they said 85 miles per week is the highest they’ve been running this year.

Despite being controversial on these boards, I think Brosnan is a good high school developer in that he can get his athletes to run extraordinarily quick from 800m to 5k off of 60-70 miles per week. But to develop into a 13:10/27:30 guy you’ve gotta be running triple digit miles or pretty close.

Lex and Leo can’t really respect to turn into 13:10 guys running 85 miles a week at sea level. With their current “progression” they’ll end up being 13:20-25 guys as seniors unless they change something up

Stanford academics?

Feel free to disagree with me, but if they went to a pure running school like NAU, then perhaps they would have a more steady progression. but they have to balance athletics and academics.

Or have insane talent. Apparently Anthony Rotich runs 70 mpw and just ran 27:08 at the TEN.

This one is on Lex. When will athletes take accountability for their own performances? When a star basketball player shoots 4 for 20 with 8 turnovers and they lose, is that the coach's fault?

Lex needs to do better. Stop the podcast and YouTube garbage, stop going to parties, quit being a bro and train more seriously.

This is way off mark. R Santos doesn’t know how to develop 5k / 1500m is his life depended on it. There is no reason for Lex to run a 10k last night at a freshman. This was a big time coaching mistake and this is very common with Santos. He’s made sure Cole Sprout has slowly got worse every year and the Young’s are on their way to the same trajectory. JJ Clark and Ricardo Santos are the strangest coaching choices for a P5

You do realize that freshmen run 10k in XC, right? Lex was the TOP FRESHMAN at NCAA Cross Country over 10k.

This was an important 10k to run for Lex to LEARN.

Yes, he ran like an idiot going out in 14:15, slowing down a lot and then running 64 last lap. But you want get experience as a freshman so next year he can run 27.XX

I don’t care about Lex and last night. What I see is how Santos has absolutely killed Cole Sprout year by year. It’s a lack of development and who knows maybe Stanford just doesn’t care about running or winning anymore. Some people just take a job as a job and winning is at the bottom of the list. You don’t need to be a genius to realize the lack of leadership Stanford is missing right now.

I actually agree they’re probably not getting adequate speed development either. It’s likely both their aerobic conditioning and top end speed and form work aren’t quite at the level that Nico’s gotten at NAU

I always got the feeling Hicks was so good because he was disciplined at getting 115 miles per week in on his own terms and Robinson because he’s absurdly talented and benefited from doing the aerobic work with Hicks
