They did their own training that worked for them. Thats what their former teammate ha said and what I heard from others.
The rumor is Hicks ran the ship
This is 100% false.
But even if it were true, why is it a bad thing? What is wrong with a coach individualizing training for their top athletes, and giving those athletes input? They each won NCAA championships and had amazing years.
You are just a hater, lying and slandering.
Forget Stanford you should take English 101 at your community college.
Slander is spoken and Libel is written. There is a big difference.
I heard Hicks and Ky did workouts with the team every tuesday and friday but your saying that they arranged their mileage how they want to.
They decide doubles , mileage and leaned on workouts that were best for them. They basically called the shots. It caused an issue with a few top team members.
The team suffered. For example they could never get it done as a “team” in cross country. Thy should have won in 2022 , but took 4th place. Their team dynamic was bad
In truth, the biggest issue with Leo and Lex is probably Brosnan texting them every day and trying to coach them on the side.
Every time they are home for break, Brosnan shows up at their workouts. Brosnan is undermining the Stanford training.

I think you’re obsessed with Brosnan who has noting to do with their training now. This has to be the dumbest reach yet. I’m not even a fan of Brosnan and your the person whose handle is named after Brosnan. Very strange and creepy at the same time.
Leo and Lex are running well and who knows what’s going on with training and personal lives. I wouldn’t worry until a year from now. Maybe Santos is a bad fit for them, but they have time to figure it out
Unlike Nico, Lex & Leo have a stocky (heavy-legged) build that's become more pronounced since high school. I don't think, anatomically, they are genetically designed to reach the sport's upper echelon.

They will never run as fast as they did in HS.
They will definitely run faster in college. Even with Santos
Thanks bro real kind. Academics yes I get that and prestige but if the coaching is that bad it makes no sense to go there and give up your running career.
Stanford is one of the universities in the world, slick. And their distance program is elite. Let this hate go, do something productive. No one is transferring and Santos had great performances from his team this weekend at home. Go cry
Exactly. All I'm seeing here is some butthurt poster raging on Santos. From every real person I've heard from he's an outstanding coach who runs his program with long term success in mind. And who knew that trying to improve from an already fantastic level while getting your a$$ kicked everyday in the classroom would be so hard?!
I don’t think he HAS to transfer to run fast. Clearly the Young family is extraordinarily talented, but Lex and Leo need to show more aerobic progression. In one of their YouTube videos they said 85 miles per week is the highest they’ve been running this year.
Despite being controversial on these boards, I think Brosnan is a good high school developer in that he can get his athletes to run extraordinarily quick from 800m to 5k off of 60-70 miles per week. But to develop into a 13:10/27:30 guy you’ve gotta be running triple digit miles or pretty close.
Lex and Leo can’t really respect to turn into 13:10 guys running 85 miles a week at sea level. With their current “progression” they’ll end up being 13:20-25 guys as seniors unless they change something up
This is way off mark. R Santos doesn’t know how to develop 5k / 1500m is his life depended on it. There is no reason for Lex to run a 10k last night at a freshman. This was a big time coaching mistake and this is very common with Santos. He’s made sure Cole Sprout has slowly got worse every year and the Young’s are on their way to the same trajectory. JJ Clark and Ricardo Santos are the strangest coaching choices for a P5
All true. But do they have smoked salmon & seared scallops in the cafeteria at NAU?
They should've competed in the California state track meet. Maybe their last chance to win a championship. I don't think the twins are as talented as their brother Nico. Being a California state 1600 or 3200 state champ makes you a permanent part of that meet's history, so it's a special achievement.
I personally would've taken that opportunity, while also running with the big boys here and there. But state would come first. They also blew off Arcadia, Brooks, etc, foregoing the chance to race against Birnbaum, Simmons, and the others. Lame. They made a mistake I would liken Lex and Leo to California's Mastalir twins (Jesuit High, 1986). Great in high school with outstanding coaching, Stanford-bound, but lacking top-end talent, so they leveled off.

Man, read your post again. You’ve reached the height of insolence to comment on someone’s grammar and writing skills with the hypocritical trash heap that you’ve written. Fingers crossed that English is not your first language.
I wish they went to NAU as a running fan, but Stanford makes sense for the academics of course. It does sound like they have a bad coach at Stanford currently. Hopefully they can get to where Ky Robinson is at.

Or have insane talent. Apparently Anthony Rotich runs 70 mpw and just ran 27:08 at the TEN.
Lagat , a miler, ran 27:40's as a masters runner and was running 60-70 mpw
