At a college open track meet, what time would you check in for the event? Say your event will be around 2pm. When is the latest I could get to the meet and when would they have me check in and get the number? THANK YOU
Depends on the meet. If it's a super big, busy meet, give yourself more time. But most meets I try to arrive ~90 minutes before my event. I immediately check in. Then I find a place to sit for 20–30 minutes, use the bathroom, etc. Once it's 40–50 minutes out, I start my warmup.
Will they think it is too late if I check in 30 minutes before the event goes off? Or should I do an hour? I have done it before in the past but I do not remember, sometimes it's been too early for me to check in.
What normally happens: after I finish most of my warmup and am walking back to rest a bit before spiking up.

Again, really depends on the meet. Ever been to a big Boston University meet? You should probably check in ASAP. Lines can be long. They have to constantly reshuffle everyone to reduce the amount of heats run to keep the whole thing moving smoothly and on time. Ever been to a rinky dink small town college meet? You can check in like 30 seconds before the gun goes off and no one bats an eye.

I'd aim to do it an hour or so before the race.
Ok, thank you, I will do that. I have been to the BU meets, but this one is smaller.
Most meets I've actually been able to check in and get my hip numbers really early, so sometimes like 90 minutes before, aside from that probably like 30 minutes before
I check in at 11:24 am exactly, no matter what time my race is scheduled. One time I had to bang on the door because the meet didn't start until 5:00 pm.
