As and old alum, I spent some time talking with Amina Maatoug at UVa last fall.
To state that she is a delightful person who is incredibly intelligent (great academic record) is and understatement. I can't imagine any school not very much wanting her.
I am perplexed at why Reckart was let go midseason. I don't have knowledge of her merit as a coach but these things need to be handled well. I talked to parents of other runners and they were supportive of the coach and team. So I can't figure out what Duke is doing.
Imagine being able to go to Duke and considering NAU, fools.
School name means noting. Fools need a school name to be successful
You must be new here. On Letsrun school name is Everything. Maybe 15 schools count, the Ivies, and places like Stanford, Duke, MIT, Chicago, and a few others. Johns Hopkins was on the list but then they ran the Covid information page for a couple years, which had actual facts and that was just too much for Letsrun and it was banned from the list.
To any and all. How does the average bloke access the transfer portal?
How do you access the transfer portal?
The average bloke does NOT access the transfer portal. It's only for authorized people like college coaches and other people in the athletic department that need access.

This. Sometimes college football coaches give media members access to it
Isabella Whittaker (Penn, 400m, 51.14) will be going to Arkansas next year as a grad transfer.
she might be just fast enough to make their 4x400 team!
Probably the only reason that Isabella Whittaker would decide to go to Arkansas is because she is going to try to go pro. After graduating from an Ivy League school she certainly doesn't need a degree from a place like Arkansas. And you're right, it's not even a guarantee that she would make their 4x400 team.
So she is going to see how far under 51 she can get, and try to get a pro contract. Best of luck to her.
I could never figure out if this was an LR rumor or not. Didn't see a press release, but then again most schools probably wouldn't publicize that (?)
Ironically their mid-d corps has been impressive this spring, 5 guys sub-1:50 and 8 sub-3:45. Granted, 4 of the 8 are grad transfers but it does look nice on paper. Don't ask about any development for 5k+ tho...

Agreed about Maatoug. I've followed Dutch athletics closely for 7 or 8 years. She is easily the best English speaker of the bunch and most interesting person. I think I've mentioned that her older sister is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives. Maatoug did an interview with the Duke school paper in which she said another sibling is the artsy kid while she's always been known as the sports kid.
Speaking of the Duke Chronicle school newspaper, I didn't realize until tonight that Maatoug has a broken foot. Perhaps that caused her to reevaluate everything and contributed to entering the portal. I looked for information regarding her transfer. Instead there was a blurb from the April 22 edition saying she was out for the season with a fractured foot. That is just about the time Stride Report broke the news that she had entered the portal:
Friday proved the women's team's depth: 16 Blue Devils placed in the top five of their events, many of whom are not the names typically earning Duke its points.
Regarding Reckart it's difficult to tell what is going on. She is still listed as assistant coach on the Duke website. But she's had a couple of oddities on her Instagram stories recently that don't jive with still being involved. She was making appearances with organizations that have track and field connections but absolutely nothing to due with Duke or the NCAA.
