I know the scouts love him, but I can't help but thinking this guy is going to be a bust. Give me Maye instead.
Look at the 2021 class, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson. All busts except Lawrence!!!!!
Picking a QB is very tricky business.
About all you can really criticize Caleb Williams for as a prospect is that he is shorter than your average successful NFL quarterback at 6'1" 215 lbs. Nevertheless, he is highly accurate (68%); he has really outstanding footwork with regard to scrambling in the pocket and can throw on the run, especially to the right, very, very well; he has a strong arm, not record strong, but throws 55 yards in the air on one of these plays; he is an elusive runner who is fast though not as fast as some NFL qb's; and he throws a high yards per attempt (9.4) and high td to int ratio (about 30 to 5 last year). So, while NFL qb prospects are very, very risky even at the top of the draft, indeed, riskier there because of their extreme cost, he looks like a very good prospect to me. Still, he better be a sure thing to be worth what you can get for trading his rights, as the Bears saw last year in trading the even more undersized #1 pick at qb and getting a ton of value.
The Bears are stupid. Bad picks (Fields can still be decent and gets excessive flack) many times over. Instead of taking accountability they panic. Need to address that o-line. Mistake trading Fields instead of keeping him and drafting o-line. Now they draft qb Williams which leaves less opportunity to address the source of their issues. Poor/stupid management is the culprit of all bad teams.
