Sports should be segregated by biological sex, not by "gender" or "gender identity". Pull on your waist band, gaze down, and proceed accordingly. Its not difficult. For those micro fraction of people with legitimate DSDs, its more complicated, but for people born male and female, its pretty simple. Nobody regards a person born a normal male to be a legitimate competitor in a girls sporting event. It makes mockery of the competition.

I was a decent DII athlete. If I transitioned I would hold the women’s world records for the 800 all the way through the 5k and I wasn’t even the best guy on my team. I don’t care what you identify with, the world accepts you, but stay out of sports where biology, puberty, and hormones very clearly make a huge difference.
if I identify as a dog the world may think that’s brave, but I won’t be allowed to compete at Westminster. GTFO with this mentality that a pronoun is synonymous with fairness and equality because a post-puberty male is going to be better than a biological women 9 times out of 10 unless they really really suck (see Lia Thomas. keep sports and kids out of it.
Sadie is a woman, so she is running in the women’s championship.
you are a complete moron please leave this board and never come back. biological males have an enormous advantage over biological females in endurance sports. it's unfair. you are a scumbag who should be ashamed of himself
Fascinating. How exactly did Sadie change gender, and what does that have to do with sports, where the relevant factor is biological sex?
You really struggle with basic ideas if you need to ask this question.
She was born a man and became a woman. That's what "change" means. The relevant factor is not biological sex. It's gender. She's a girl. She runs with girls.
Let's say a "biological girl" changed gender to a male and grew a beard. You would want that runner competing against girls? No. It would be ridiculous.
You really "struggle with basic ideas".
The women's category exists for people who were born women and nobody else. The category exists because women, on average, have different physiological and genetic traits that lead to different outcomes in athletics -- outcomes that render them uncompetitive with men.
The category does not now and has never existed to protect people who regard themselves as women, or dress as women, or would like to be regarded as women by others (for any reason whatsoever). This is true even if you regard them as women too, despite the preponderance of demonstrable evidence to the contrary.
And yes, if some woman starts taking testosterone and grows a beard, she would not then qualify as a man. She would just be a drugged up woman, suited only for Pieter Thiel's upcoming 'Roid Extravaganza Games, or whatever they're calling it.
Still, I see nothing wrong with changing the mens category to 'open' for all events and allowing women to compete in it if they so choose, and if they do not take hormones and otherwise violate reasonable doping rules by claiming therapeutic use exemptions for psychological disorders.
You really struggle with basic ideas if you need to ask this question.

NO. "She" was born man and IDENTIFIES as woman.
I agree. I’m glad we finally found some common ground. The fact that she identifies as a woman means she should run against women.
Surprised nobody has started a thread on this yet. RIT's Sadie Schreiner is a Male -> Female transgender sprinter is competing in the 200m at D3 Indoor Nationals. I think this is one of the first times we have seen a transgender athlete compete at a NCAA national meet for track. I personally feel bad for the athlete that was left out of the meet because of Sadie. However, I am interested in seeing what others think about this.
The title of this thread should read "Man competing at NCAA D3 Indoor Track Nationals In Women's Division".
Adopting the twisted language of the greedy pseudo-medical industry and its political cronies just weakens the point. There is a man who is insisting on being called a woman competing in the Women's division. That's the begging and end fit.
The issue is that the organizer of the competition is refusing to use definitions of men's and women's that it has insisted on for all of known history.
Introducing newfangled words only muddies the waters and require the reinforcement of terms that were already sufficiently defined. Men always means "biological male". and women always means "biological female." "Transwomen" means man pretending to be or wishing to be regarded as woman. Which has no meaning in this context, or perhaps in any context.
I just changed the title to make it more descriptive and make it clear that the athlete is a) a biological male and b) is competing in the women's division.
I have no problem with a trans person competing at NCAAs.
I have a problem with an athlete competing in the wrong sex division.
Gender is like religion - your belief and no one else's business. Sex is genetic.
#sexnotgender
What was the original title?
Did you introduce the nonsense and silly terms "Transwomen" and "Biological Male" after the post was live?
If so, for what reason? Clearly nobody has objected to anyone competing in NCAAs (or anywhere) based on how they dress or their bizarre insistence upon anything. The issue in this case is a man being classified as a woman for the purposes of athletic competition. I can't think of an instance where it makes sense to classify a man as a women. Maybe there is one. I doubt it.
I also find is odd that you say 'gender is like a religion'. Perhaps you are getting at the fact that people can transgress the varied social norms of gender just like they can transgress the varied social norms of religion. However, you might also note that social norms regarding many things including gender tend to be the same across religions and seem to exist because they provide tremendous value to human beings. So it isn't exactly a case of peoples solitary and private beliefs, but rather sets of customs that extend across cultures and religions for reasons that they may not fully understand, and confer value that they may not fully understand, and therefore they might transgress at their own risk. All of which to say -- I see what you're trying to do in sidestepping the gender conversation for practical purposes. But you might not in so doing sidestep it. Gender seems to exist as little more than a diverse (and perhaps archaic) set of cultural norms that indicate sex and help people identify the sex of other people when chromosomal tests may not be available or practical -- which is almost always.

If he regards himself as a Ford F-150 mean he can register himself with the DMV as a motor vehicle? If he regards himself as a Manatee can he live rent-free in Everglades National Park as an engendered species? If he regards himself as a hat do I have the right to sell him to someone or consider him personal private property? If he regards himself as Ryan Reynolds does he become entitled to royalties from the film Ryan Reynolds in which Ryan Reynolds appears? People who exhibit various forms of insanity are liable to regard themselves as anything, or anyone.
Clearly what this fellow 'identifies as' has no bearing on many (if not all) situations in life. And you have failed to provide a cogent argument about why NCAA Track should be an exception.
first off, we celebrate when a girl plays D1 baseball or football, or D3 football. the real issue is who wins what and not sex mixing.
second, she finished 9th and didn't make the final. at which point we move the goalposts and act like the issue is sex mixing and how some other girl should have made it only to finish 20th.
if this is about who lands 9th or 20th or 1050th then get a life. people should be allowed to be themselves and you can't seem to make your mind up in any principled way about gender.

you may think about it this way but i imagine no one or near zero of the trans people competing are thinking this way. nobody who is an amazing athlete is like hmmm i could be an above average male or i could be a sneak and win a women's championship -- even though this seems to be the conservative narrative of choice. nor is anyone seemingly running just to be "woke." they are running as women because they see themselves as such and they enjoy the sport. contrary to conservative narrative most of the time they are average women's or girls' competitors.

Every time a trans kids competes in sport this site goes ballistic with the hate. That's because this is a right wing site, what other site supports trumps new shoes, LMAO. Their is a pathological hatred of certain humans on this site, which makes it so different from T&F News or Runners World Magazine. I suppose some folks on this site are also Christian nationalist or whatever that is. So this site hates trans people, surprises, surprise, and every time a trans kid competes that want to crucify that individual, make the person Nex Benedict. Some trans kid is going to be competing and some nut will probably do them physical harm and that will illicit the most thumbs up in the history of this site. 100% just watch and see! I am sure that most on this site are Americans oh and Americans hate a particular community, shocking givens its extensive history, LMAO! Now go ahead and give me a thousand thumps down so I can laugh my ass off as I do every time this topic comes up and people like you vent your hatred :) !
Why is sex the only biological characteristic letsrun posters are obsessed with? Why not height or weight? There is a creepy factor about all these threads.

You'd think the incel losers that post to this hellhole would appreciate when women transition to men, because that's one less woman out there who is turning them down for being the bitter, undatable losers they are.
