It’s weird how nobody talk about south region here. They have Jesuit La, Austin Vandegrift, Bentonville, and Southlake Carroll. Probably will be the best year for south region.
I would say south region is above Midwest, Northwest, California
Midwest has a better chance of getting an at-large than California.
All top California teams are graduating a lot of people. Third CA team didn’t do very well at NXN, which might reduce their chances of CA getting an at-large
In the Midwest, both Plainfield teams (who took second and third at NXR) are only losing 2 seniors. Plainfield North took 15th at NXN in their first outing, and Plainfield South lost to them at NXR by only 1 point, missing a bid, which might have given them some motivation to put in work to qualify for NXN.
Downers Grove North loses 4 seniors, but they took 7th at NXN and they actually return 3 scorers. And also 4 more sub-10 guys (and 3 more just off of that) who weren’t on varsity last year. This program is deep and has people come out of nowhere every year.
Post top midwest team track times. South/Northwest/California all have teams with good returning track times

Jesuit LA’s #2 runner (Crawford) got off to a good season start last fall, running sub-15:10 at Southern Showcase as a junior, and then got hurt at the end of the season. He missed the second year of track in a row. He will be very crucial to the team’s success.
Crater is 7 deep with 2 running that could actually go 1-2 at nxr northwest.
Don’t write off Owen Powell or Vincent Recupero though. Based on track season, they could split this Crater duo, although they did finish in the bottom 3 at NXR.
fair enough - here are Niwots times they have run this year. I will star results outside of CO

It’s not realistic to have this much talent without recruiting. I hope Herriman and Southlake Carroll can beat recruiting youth runners Niwot team at nxn
Mountain View is looking better and better by the day. At the byu invite this weekend (ran at 4500 ft) they had:
9:04/4:10 (35th at 2023 NXN)
4:12/1:51 (141st at 2022 NXN)
9:49/4:38 (freshman)
4:34/2:00
4:34/2:00 (first year at MV)
4:36/2:02 (freshman)
4:38/10:07 (187th at 2022 NXN).
Not to mention these boys continue to peak incredibly well in the XC season (ignoring the 2022 sickness) and find ways to beat the odds, my money is on them sneaking into the top-15 this December.

I think they will be top 10. Last fall there were 4 Southwest teams in the top 9 and it wouldn’t be surprising if the same thing happens again

Midwest doesn't race any other regions all season yet expects to be held in higher regard than northwest. And their track times are significantly worse than other regions. However, they held up well at nxn with downers grove placing 7th and Plainfield North 15th. South, Northwest, Southwest, California have teams constantly racing each other. So it was obvious to every one of those regions that southwest was very strong last year.
Waxahachie won’t even podium at the state meet. They didn’t even qualify for it last year. Granted, the scoring 5 did consist of 4 sophomores last year.
I'm likely biased, but I do think that Herriman and Niwot will be the top 2 teams next year. I also think that the SW will have 3 in the top 5 and 4 in the top 10 again. There will also be very strong individuals that will be overlooked all season because they're running slower times on hilly altitude courses that will do well and possibly win NXN.

I am biased but I think outside of crater or, northwest is being overrated on here
