Does it? NC state needs Tuohy to do well or they don't even podium. I guess if she blows up but still lands in top 15 they can still podium
I think 150-175 and they could still well podium - even 5/~30/~30/~30/50 would get it done.
Well, I hope she goes for it. What does she have to lose at this point? Hopefully Henes gives her the green light.
I re-watched the press conference and Tuohy looked kind of ... sad or something when she was not talking.
It is probably hard on the team to know that (realistically) the chances of a 3 peat are slim with Chmiel hurt and of course feeling bad for their teammate. Ideally they can put it out of their minds and just run their best today.
Seriously... there is no way she wins by 23 seconds. That is as outlandish as posters saying Valby wins by 23 seconds. What is that based on?
1) She LOVES cross country. 2) She LOVES the TEAM aspect of cross country. 3) She DISLIKES losing. 4) She never repeats the same mistake. 5) She learns from EVERYTHING. 6) She WINS. 7) She WANTS to push herself to the utmost limits (even to the irritation of her coaches). Tuohy will WIN and will MOTIVATE her teammates to do EVERYTHING they possible can to do they best THEY can as well to win the team title.
I TOTALLY forgot to post #8…
She’s tapered.
@UpperState: waiting for you very professional unbiased analysis on today's race.
NCSt needs to put three in the top 25 to keep hopes alive. Long shot.
I don't think that would be enough. Perhaps a reasonable hope is Tuohy very high, Bush, Stephens, Tyynismaa 20-30, Hartman 40-45. That is close to 120 points, and I think NAU capable of <90. NC St slips a little from that and BYU could be right with them for 2nd on a good day.
The fact that it would require the proverbial miracle means that it ain't gonna happen. They'll either race too conservatively or too aggressively with said miracle in mind.

NC St delivered, NAU a little off
Tough day to have a few runners off. No Keira Moore and Stearns finished 20th when she has the ability to be top 5.
This was the miracle on ice. The lose Chmiel. Katelyn did not have her best day. And they win anyway against a favored team. What I had right is how good they would have been at full strength. We just never saw it all season.

Haha, funny you mentioned that event. I posted a video of it! (I believe on the first page or so here?).
