Plus Wiley goes for the all-seasons collegiate record.
Here's an interesting tweet I saw about the 200.
Also #BrusselsDL track design is special compared to Standard track measurements (m) Straight 71.29 v 84.39 Bend 128.81 v 115.61 Radius of curve 40.7 v 36.5
The pacing targets for the 2k denoted on the start list are 1:52/800 and 2:21/1000, which is super aggressive and suggests that Jakob thinks he can smash the record.
Pacing targets for other races:
W1500 - 2:37/K (3:55.5 pace)
W5k - 5:43/2K (14:17.5 pace, but a long way to go without pacers or a Gidey/Tsegay type athlete)
M800 - 49.5/400 (Fingers crossed for that 1:42.xx we’ve all been waiting for)
M10k - Just noted as 2:41 per K (27:05 pace)

I don’t think the pacing only indicates that Jakob is going to try. I believe he is very unsure about his shape. In Lievin earlier this year the pacing was also WR speed, but he was coming back from illness and wasn’t even close. Also, he hasn’t postes anything on SoMe ahead of this race, and neither has his girlfriend. They usually do when heading confidently into big races.

Just noting 2:41 pace is 26:50 pace unless I’ve screwed up my maths.
And the 800 pacing is good but unsure if we’re missing the two potential 1:42 guys. Perhaps the Algerians and Kinyamal hit it perfectly here.

D’oh. I knew 2:40 pace is 26:40 and then I added one second per lap instead of one second per K like some kind of a fool.
It's September, and the championships are over. I'm not holding my breath.
Agreed. I have no idea why outliers are so popular. When somebody sees a truism and immediately scrambles for an outlier, their thought process is all screwed up.
That's why I appreciate my 24 years in Las Vegas. Nobody gave a damn about outliers in that environment. You were laughed out of the room. Everybody knew it had to be a steady grind of what is dependable more often than not.

This isn’t Vegas. Plenty of WRs have been run after the Championships over the years.
Looks like on the dot pacing so far through 5K. Slew of 1:04 laps.
Always great to have a guy who can run the projected finish time pacing a la Mo Ahmed/Woody in some of those BTC time trials. Figuring Kibet is good to go for next year based on his Worlds finish?
