With cross country having wrapped up with a 3rd place finish at the state meet, the Newbury Park Track Team began its racing outdoors on the track. This is o...
Well in 2022, it wasn’t until RunningLane we realized how “average” Jesuit really was. In fact, at one point in 2022, Milesplit made a silly decision to put Jesuit as #1 in the nation in the Milesplit 50 rankings
Love how these completely average high schoolers are now just riding the coat tails of the greatest HS team in history, because they happen to go to school there. Amazin'

Kinda like the coach who is still riding the coat tails of the greatest team in history just because he was lucky the Youngs and Sahlmans went there.
When is the book coming out? Will the royalties be split among the Young/Sahlman families and Brosnan?

I don't disagree! My opinion is that Brosnan is great at getting the absolute most out of his runners that buy in 1000%. Just so happened that he had 5 of the most gifted/determined runners in HS history all at the same time.
He had a pipeline of youth runners that was insane, look up the Camarillo cosmos.

Bro has never had success without multiple Youngs or Sahlmans. With only Nico, they didn't even make the state meet. At UCLA they "might have" improved a little, but debatable, then was let go.
When will he go back to high school and prove to everyone he can do it without them? He won't because he can't.

Take a look at the girls program then.
At RunningLane 2021, they took 9th (without Saratoga and Fayetteville Manlius). Only one NP girl per family.
Before Brosnan started coaching, the girls team never made the state meet

Were the Youngs and Sahlmans at NP at the time? Yes, they were. They raised the level for everyone. Again, he has never had success without them. Not in the 30 something years before them and not since them. Yeah but, yeah but, yeah but. Come back and prove it. He won't because he can't.

The girls program got good because a bunch of really good girls transferred there. Guess why they transferred there…….because the Youngs and Sahlmans were there and were good. The Youngs and Sahlmans were mostly responsible for the success of NP and the coach rode their coat tails.
Heard they got a school record yesterday in the girls 4x800
I heard the coach is bipolar. Well that’s what the athletes told the kids I coach. Lots of problems there. sounds like a disaster is coming
If it’s the same dude that was the Newbury Park youth track coach this man has problems. When my relatives ran youth at Newbury Park TC I was amazed this man was allowed to be around kids.

Well, I don't know the new guy, but it sounds like their hiring practices could use an overhaul at NP. Hiring a guy who lied to get the job and had as many CIF complaints as he did, followed by this guy, if what you say is true, seems like some poor choices.
All I know is, the guy before both of these guys was an absolute A+ human being, even though he didn't get the results of the past couple. I guess it depends on what you're willing to sacrifice to get results.

Kris Karsten seems like he’s not all there. He’s been reaching out to other California coaches with success in the area trying to get coaching advise in a strange desperate manor. I admire him for trying to get advise, but something is just off in his situation. A few local coaches have been talking about it. He’s an oddball to say the least.

An odd ball high school track coach? Say it isn’t so!
I thought most track coaches are a little odd. Good for him trying to become a better coach.

They will be lucky to make it to CIF finals at Mt Sac next year. This coach is creeping other coaches out. I’m still in shock he worked with youth kids. I will admit part of me feels bad for him at the same time as creeped out.

Factually looks to bend everyone. I never understood the difference
Same thing happened to Arcadia HS when the coach left. They dropped off the map from being the best. They usually have a season of doing well, then the big drop comes. Arcadia HS went though a few coaches and now they finally have a solid coach again. If Newbury Park cares about sports it will take a few changes to have results down the line. It’s same story but different HS.

And Great Oak too after Soles left. Their girls team is average now, and the boys team will be around for one more year, but their frosh-soph class is pretty sparse now, while there are other teams in CA with very good frosh-soph classes.
York and Loudoun Valley fell off too after the coaches left.
