I hope she does run. It would be such a good race between her, Keely and Mary. Keely runs better with Mu in the race. Mary does funny things to the race.
I would like to see Mu go out to the front like she does and control the race and that would mean Mary can’t do her crazy speed up slow down tactics. Though it’s a shame Keely gets psyched out by that.
Then it’s anybodies in the last 200m. In a way it makes it more interesting as we haven’t seen Mu race much so we are unsure of her fitness.
With Reekie back up to fitness too she could put some pressure on for a third spot.
I am glad she is (likely) competing. While I'm not wishing ill upon her, I think it would actually be good for her long term if she loses this year to Keely and/or Moraa. If she shows up and still wins Worlds after doing the bare minimum this year, she will probably continue do this every year. But if she loses, she might realize she needs to fully commit to the sport if she wants to be the best.
Bobby Kersee wasn't Syd's coach when she went to Monaco but didn't race, was he? Kersee has actually entered them in a number of meets this year where they didn't show. Why blame Kersee? They already didn't like to race last year.

Mary has made the races more interesting when it is her v Keely. She might try to get ahead of Mu and disrupt her although its a risky strategy.
They all know what Mary’s tactic is now. Go out hard, slow right down then hard again. They all need to be prepared to deal with that and not let her control the race.
I hope Mu is running. As I think Mary with take it if it’s just between her and Keely. Keely runs better with Mu.

Easier said then done. You need to go out hard to beat Moraa to the punch. She's not easy to pass, either. That first 200 break is going to be a lot of fun. And then how the two remaining straightaways are handled as well. If you're Reekie or Keely you've gotta be patient but when you make your move it's decisive. No fighting for the lead and then getting repelled.
Yep it’s going to be hugely tactical for sure. I don’t think it’s a good idea for Keely to go out fast with Mary. Patience is key yes and for Reekie too. Problem also is Mary’s finishing kick. The middle part of the race will be decisive.
I’m sure they’ve been going through this with their respective coaches. As when Mary beat Keely her time was slower than Keely ran in Paris. She needs to run her own race.

Exactly. If I were advising Keely, I'd tell her to be patient the first 550. Get into striking distance (4th/5th spot, on the outside) by then, but the two options from there are to get right on the shoulder of Mu and Moraa around the bend or more boldly get to the lead if the opportunity presents itself. No matter what happens begin the kick at 150-125 to go. Whether that's from the lead or from lane 2 to seize the lead, you can't let them have distance or momentum to hold you off.
”Miss Mu” is such a stinker! I will *NEVER* forgive her or Bob Kersee for doing this to us. We deserve an athlete that respects the sport! Maybe she is the reigning olympic and world championship, big deal!!!! If she steps on that track she is about to get spitroasted by a handful of women who have never beaten her before! Won’t even make the final
Wow, fragile snowflake, in what bad place that that mean bad woman touch you? It's obvious you're the one who got spitroasted
Just spoke to USATF communications chief Aarti Parekh and she confirmed that Athing Mu is in Budapest. I asked her if that meant Mu is running, and she told me that while she could not confirm that 100%, she has seen nothing to indicate that Mu will not be competing.
Remember that Bobby Kersee told the LA Times that Mu would either be getting on a plane to Budapest or a plane to vacation. My guess: she's running the 800 at Worlds.
so you guys just straight up lied to make a sensational story that she was skipping worlds. You are a cr!P organization.
Don't forget, no one has Mu's 400m basic speed. She's a good 1-sec faster than anyone else in the field. If she is insecure about her strength (which may be doubtful after her 4:00, 1500m), she will go too fast too early. However, we've seen her be able to hold off Hodgkinson and Moraa in championship racing down the homestretch. No better tactician than Mu.

Mu is significantly faster than Moraa and Keely (Mu@49.5o/48.33r vs Moraa@50.4 vs Keely @52.2) so I don't think that Mu will have a difficult time getting to the front of she wants to. ...Now that Mu has developed strength (4:03 1500) to go with that speed, she is the favorite regardless of how little she's raced 800 in the past year.

The front of the race becomes far less certain if Mu is not at her best. It could become a logjam at moderate pace with Mu, Moraa, Hodgkinson and also Audrey Werro of Switzerland. She is a frontrunner and good enough to make the final if she draws a favorable semifinal.
Keely is best served if Mu is near her best. That would translate to Mu taking it out faster than Moraa is comfortable with, allowing Keely to settle behind Mu.
So far Moraa has demonstrated zero willingness to mix it up with Mu. She is Keely kryptonite but defers to Mu. Granted, it's only been two races but both of them were shocking in terms of Moraa staying out of the way.
