Cranny is a much faster finisher. Monson would have had to run at the red line to lose Cranny and it wasn't worth it at nationals to do so.

I can see the ratio for her type of runner as 1.7 x 3k time. so 8.25 x 1.7 = 14.18.5. She was paced (until she fell off) for 4600m of it. Radcliffe could have run similarly if she had that level of pacing. Someone with better 1500m ability (Tsegay, Hassan, Kipyegon or Houlihan) won't likely be able to match that ratio. Gidey (8.20) has an even lower ratio (1.69x 3k), but she too is a distance runner.
I was 8:26 flat 200m which converts to 8:15 or so and I hit 14:15 pre super shoes
She and her whole team are as dirty as the rest
Makes you wonder how undertrained they were in college. Pretty much no guys drop 40s+ off their 5k time after college if they ran the event at all (i.e. no 3:40 1500m guy who ran a 14:20 freshman year). Or if doping is really that good...
8:25 in somewhat slower than 4:30 pace and probably closer to 4:32 since a 4:10 1500 is roughly equivalent to 4:29 or 4:20
I'm guessing if this would have been a 3000 instead of a 5000 she would have run markedly faster than 8:25. She's much sharper now than she was when she ran 8:25.
Shelby Houlihan is not banned due to internet speculation regarding her progression, S Houlihan is banned because she cleared pissed dirty for a p.e.d. test.
In English, please?
So Shelby ran 14:23 and she had a 3:54.99 1500 pb. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Monson has yet to break 4:00. How the heck does she find the wheels(and yes, you need wheels) to go from 14:42 to 14:19?!?! None of that makes sense. Of we’re saying it’s because of her strength, then Eilish McColgan can also run sub 14:20. That just doesn’t sound right….
People aren't robots that put in the exact same standard of performance every race. She obviously ran better today than when she ran her 3k PB.
Also, when the following word begins with a vowel sound, you use "an" rather than "a"; as in "...an 8:25 3k".
The answer is really easy - superior training methods. Woody Kincaid already said BTC didn’t do double-thresholds. Nike drugs and doctors can only get you so far.
Exactly. Shelbo800's progression was no different than Monson's. If one is capable of doing it clean then so is the other. If one is accussed of being dirty, which is only an accusation based on her passing tests (until she didn't), then both are dirty.
Monson won Millrose 3000m when she was still in college. She was already showing elite potential.
Your issue is with slight pace differential, really? 8:26.81/7.5 = 67.574666 per lap; 14:19.45/12.5=68.756 per lap. More than 1 second per lap difference. I have seen runners with more similar 5000m & 3000m times than that.
I have stated for a few years on here: For well trained distance runners (80 miles per week plus), pace differential from 1/2 Marathon to 3000m is roughly the same as pace differential for 600m men and women, 800m to 400m.
Surely you have seen teammates and competitors who race 3 miles and 2 miles at almost the same pace. Surely you have seen teammates and competitors who race 5000m and 3000m at almost the same pace.
I think people speculate that Shelby was doped mostly because she tested positive for doping
Anyone with half a brain smells the dirt on this American record. Amazing how naive people can be.
That makes Monson even more suspicious.
there’s one minor difference…
