His women havent been the problem. Archie Noakes, Simeon Birnbaum, Isiah Stuery, etc have all floundered. Devon Hart went from 11th in XC nationally to not placing at the Pac 12 meet in either of hos two events. I believe he's 30 seconds slower in the 10K this semester and about 10 seconds slower in the 5K (though he ran 13:38 in rain)
The 4X4 team got 8th, the best they could manage in the steeplechase was one of two racers getting 8th in a 12-man field Harrison Reinhardt at least got all pac -12 in the mile (7th) and Elliott Cook won the race. That's about their only accomplishment.
Conference championship for the women and a near podium finish for the men in Jerry’s first year as the coach is a great outcome. It will only get better from here. Cook beating those Washington boys in the 1500 is a harbinger of things to come.
The OP's title is a little bit confusing which is understandable as he's likely an Oregon grad:. I think he's meant to say that the Jerry haters and the Oregon haters go home devastated - not that Jerry S went home devastated along with the Oregon haters.
Since he's an Oregon grade, he should have just let a picture do the talking for him. Like this one:
1 point combined in the 10, 5, and steeple on the men’s side? Is he saving everyone for regionals? Anyhow, sprints and field coaches deserve credit here.
Jerry was brought in to field men's cross country teams that could contend for and win NCAA cross country championships. To date, the men he coaches have collectively underperformed.
Robert Johnson had infinitely more success with the track teams than Jerry has so far.
Flanagan is doing surprisingly well with the female distance runners.
No. Jerry and the pole vaulters went home devastated. That is the same sentence construction. Your logic says that it reads as Jerry vaulters went home devastated along with pole vaulters.
Conference championship for the women and a near podium finish for the men in Jerry’s first year as the coach is a great outcome. It will only get better from here. Cook beating those Washington boys in the 1500 is a harbinger of things to come.
It's Jerry's 2nd year as a coach. The Pac 12 is extremely weak now. The throws carried the women's team, not distance.
I thought the thread title meant Jerry and Oregon haters go home devastated. Meaning Jerry went home devastated and Oregon haters went home devastated. Everyone is going home devastated.
