JSerra Catholic got 3 new transfers: Chiara Bonomi - from Cathedral Catholic Chloe Elbaz - from Xavier College Prep Sophie Polay - from Santa Margarita
Adam Burlison, who has a chance next track season to become just the second Texas high school boy to ever break 4 minutes in the mile, has left Grapevine and...
BREAKING: The final tally is THREE transfers heading to @jserra this XC season as @sophiepolay (pictured, a D3 all-state runner at @SMCHS_XC ), Chloe Elbaz (@CIFSS D5 champ while at Xavier Prep) and Saul Orozco (from Segerstrom HS — would have been D1 preseason all-state). pic.twitter.com/4FeNDUm153
This should now put the Dana Hills boys teams in the conversation of teams to autoqualify for NXN. This transfer ran a 14:30 3-mile / 9:18 3200 / 4:17 mile
BREAKING: Jayden Hernandez, a first-team All-Orange County cross country selection and individual champion at the Laguna Hills and Dana Hills invitationals while attending Godinez HS, has transferred to Dana Hills HS for his senior year. @ocvarsitypic.twitter.com/hVKNl2y7Ut
I know it’s kind of been like this for a while, but this year, high school XC is more like college XC than it’s ever been in terms of transfers. And the season hasn’t even started in some states so we may hear about more transfers.
Things like top teams getting 3 impact transfers, and a top runner from a less competitive team coming in and filling in for the missing pieces in the scoring 5 to make a team a national powerhouse.
How about, it’s sad that a school can’t keep talent. They have to go elsewhere else to grow it. Some coaches just don’t have what it takes nor try to learn what it takes.

This is so true!!!
And this isn’t really talked on here about as much as about rumors that a team recruits

This. There are a large number of transfers who are just seeking better coaching when they transfer.
Geez, I don't know, but maybe parents care about their kid's education even more than their athletic achievements. Perhaps some of you Einstein's didn't realize that JSerra was one of the only schools in California that reopened school in fall 2020 during COVID pandemic and parents wanted more assurance their kids aren't going to be taught by a robot the next time the CA gov't wants to shut down schools because somebody sneezes in the wrong direction. Don't discount the importance of a good education in a non-CRT environment with religious principles. You may not care about it, but these kid's parents probably do.

Yeah and some people are way faster than everyone in their program during their freshman or sophomore year and then they transfer because they would rather have a guy or two at their level on the team to train with.
Sometimes there can be an elite runner on a team with less than 5 guys (not enough to score) so they transfer elsewhere so that they can be on the team that has enough guys to score

Exactly this. And SOMETIMES a freshman/soph girl is so much better than her teammates, and they treat her like crap and make being in the team lonely. Or the coach can’t stand the fact that she has private coaching and makes it miserable. Absolute true story as to two of the names mentioned in this thread.
Just heard they have another transfer to Mountain Vista. A freshman from Rock Canyon. Claire Gulberson (?sp) apparently she is pretty good but was injured last year.
