Geoffrey Kamworor and Kelvin Kiptum dropped out of The World Athletics Championship Marathon in August.
Sources like Trackstaa on Instagram, make the claim that Kiptum is going to attempt Kipchoge's World Record in Berlin or Valencia. Some as well (Like Kipchoge himself a couple weeks ago) say Kiptum is also likely aiming for the Two Hour Barrier (my prediction as well from January).
I think It's like 50% that He's going to break 2. 75-80% that he goes under 2:01.
Thoughts?

On the off-chance that he goes for 2 and succeeds.
I predicted he was gonna run 2:01 in London. Simply because I doubt the way he ran Valencia, that he wasn't going to test the waters of his unusual speed to see if he could pull it off.
Doped or not, he isn't dumb. He wouldn't be teasing 2:01:09 if he wasn't already confident from his previous two races, he'll go Sub 2 mark my words.
he needs to drop 1:40 from his first half and keep his 2nd half close to the same to break 2. pretty risky imo. the best way to do it is probably through the half in 60:30, so if he can pick it up, sub-2 is on the table, and if he can't, the wr is still on the table.
Maybe somewhat for track. For the Marathon, yes an Olympic Gold is arguably the most coveted thing, but winning London is darn near close and then setting a top 5 time ever or World Record is way up there. I suspect he will run Paris 24, but running in Budapest never made any sense, and Kipchoge has never run in a World Championships marathon for a reason (money and record-chasing).
And he would rank higher among all timers if he had more hardware.
But the World Championships marathon doesn’t have a ton of prestige. It’s better for Kiptum’s legacy to win Berlin in a super fast time than to win in Budapest in 2:06.
