I was wondering the same thing. My best guess is that he's transferring to take a 5th year after he graduates this spring, and entering the transfer process meant he forfeited running post season for Stanford. I don't know how common it is for schools to have athletes stop competing once they put in to transfer, but I've heard it happens some places.
I don't have any insider knowledge, though. I'm just speculating. Hope it's not injury.
Grad transfers tend to be different than normal transfers as they tend to leave with a good relationship.

I had heard something like that...but...he burned this season correct, why wouldn't he be able to or allowed to run Nats for Stanford?

Devin Hart is transferring to Texas and is currently coming off an injury.
