We have merged two threads on this topic into 1 and kept the title of the longer thread. The other thread was called, "Adeline Johnson, high school senior, misses state due to biological male taking the last spot in California."
Kenya's Helah Kiprop was lagging more than one minute behind the leading group after 25km, but managed to come all the way back to win the 2023 Paris Maratho...
Even though Johnson is in, Buckley scratching to run the 3200 should have let the 5th place runner in. The situation still exists, even if Johnson is on the state heat sheet, the next person is still missing out on their spot.
Continuing, I’m 99% sure that the 7th athlete from the Southern section was allowed into the state meet because of a protest or appeal after one of the 3 falls during the race, NOT because the CIF granted an extra spot because of Barrett
I assume he's referring to Asbel which is ironic as he tested positive for EPO later - which, to be honest, is similar to what they're doing since they have an unfair advantage over the rest of the field.
I get wanting to smash the patriarchy but the trans thing is exactly opposite of doing that. They can't have it both ways--it's not fair to the women who worked their tails off the right way!
It did seem she let up upon re-watch--they were all in a pack at 2:27 at the half, then she pulled back with 200m to go and the two girls in the black singlets placed ahead of her.
I am always dismayed and disgusted by the adult arrogance of this topic. It is not about protecting children, this is damaging and socially awkward for all the kids, especially the one child not being guided and taught by his parents. One of the lessons we learn as children from adults, is that everything is not normal or of the norm. To pretend as we do now, is damaging to society as a whole. That little boy was out there on the stand staring ONLY at his family because conscious or not, that was the ONLY source of support out there. He did not interact with the girls on the podium and they did not interact with him. To watch him run was further damage as he simply is not good enough to compete and running against what he thinks he is, is not supportive nor encouraging him in life. It is a lie that makes his parents feel good while setting him up for a harsh reality, he is not a woman, and never will be, and that false sense of acceptance will fall on him like a ton of bricks. He is not being prepared for his life and the his choices, and the consequences that will inevitably come. Instead, they have chosen to avoid the tough conversation and placate his immature emotions. He is a child!!! And the adults have forgotten this fact.
Oh that poor child. I heard his parents are actively seeking opinions from other adults on how best to parent their child, so maybe your expert advice has a chance to get heard.
The only effective boycott would be if Sadie Englehardt removed herself from finals. She’s the only With the power to make a statement. She’s won every Championship you can win as a high schooler a couple more state meets means nothing. Send a message, do the right thing Sadie.
The white knightery boings up to delightfully ridiculous levels, now exhorting even the happily winning girls to make sacrifices for a cause of existential importance mostly to the white knights.
if this is the actual breakdown it makes you question how we ended up where we are today with two boys competing against women for a state championship in california and dozens? others across the country.
To support my post, I should have shared the polling data. And you are right to wonder this. What "America" wants is to have girls and women competing without trans athletes among them. How did we end up here?
Opinion polls are just that, and fickle at that, just like polls used to be anti gay-marriage before they became pro.
It takes time but there always eventually comes a time in a democracy where the conscience of a significant majority can no longer condone suppressing the dignity and pursuit of happiness of people different from themselves.

Agreed. This isn’t on Sadie or any of the girls. Adults are the ones who failed them.
I definitely think this calls for a loud but peaceful protest at the meet. It’s good to see protesters at the last meet but now that we know what’s going on maybe more will show up and stand up for the girls.
She qualified for State last year, but I guess she only qualified on time last year so did not push anybody out. It seems that she ended up not pushing anybody out this year either.
She is slower this year than she was last year. Swimming in drugs this year perhaps?
There was outcry. But people are even bolder now than they were last year
I find it odd that anyone would want to allow biological males to compete against biological females. It is an inherently unfair competition. How is it possible that anyone can not see this?

You are correct that opinions change over time.
Support for gay marriage is at an all-time high (71% favor it), and that includes favorability (above 50%) among those over age 65, Protestants, and Republicans. Really, the last hold outs on gay marriage (at about 40%) are those who "attend church weekly."
But you know what the HUGE difference is?
Gay marriage does not take anything away from other people. It does not trample on the rights of other people. When gay people marry, a wedding is not denied to a heterosexual couple. Nobody "loses."
I welcome you to compare that to what happens in sports when one person wins (another loses), when one person earns a spot in a final (someone else doesn't), when one person makes "All-NCAA/State/Conference" (someone else does not).
Opinion polls DO change.
I predict that as more and more XX humans lose out on things they have earned, support for trans girls/women in sports will DECREASE.
The position that "trans participation doesn't hurt anyone" is proving to be 100% a lie.

Sure, I’ve presented the premise for what you are asking in bold multiple times in posts on these boards. We are comparing the happiness of a tiny fraction of competitive women athletes (and a vanishingly small fraction of all women) that would have medaled move down a spot and thereby lose earnings against a tiny fraction of the already small fraction in the population of trans women facing at least the same consequence; in fact, with today’s rules, they have no shot at all at competitive sport.
Why is one tiny group’s happiness more important than the other’s and what is the quantifiable impact? Please show me an economic analysis. (I’m uninterested in stupid responses like “because it is inherently unfair for biological males blah blah blah”.)
What blows my mind is how the 'reporter' doesn't ask the most obvious question of all: 'Do you think it's unfair that you as a biological male are qualifying for states as a woman?'
But there was a similar situation here in Maryland a mom told me the kids on the team do not care at all. I guess they've been brainwashed since birth that everyone is the same. You can do whatever you want - biology be damned.
I don't buy it about the Maryland mom saying the kids on the team don't care. I think everyone is so afraid of being cancelled that they just say it's ok to avoid trouble for themselves and their families.

Making a choice to be uninterested in science is rather convenient for you, I'm sure.
This is not an issue about economics. It IS an argument about fundamental fairness. We will favor one small group's pursuit of happiness over the other's because one group has more of a right at stake than the other.
XX humans clearly have more of a right to participate in girls' sports than XY humans do.
Unlike gay marriage, in which more of it normalizes it, the MORE XY humans you have in girls sports, the bigger problem it will obviously be and the faster the push back will come.
(And as I have posted before, I am a Democrat, and a proud liberal).
