Paul MF Chelimo
We merged 4 threads into 1. The others were about Weini Kelati and Paul Chelimo. We have done a hybrid title.
Paul MF Chelimo
27:12 win for Chelimo - closes in 58sec just not quite enough for WC standard. Great to see Chelimo back racing fast though
Unfortunate that he missed the standard, but I think it is a great sign for his 5000m. He is clearly fitter than last year.
PAUL
CHELIMO
Just off the standard, but should be more than enough for Budapest given the 27:12 and the points since this is silver label
Chilly Chelimo
He's probably wishing he could have gained those vital 2 seconds during his easy opening laps. I was really willing him over the line, great performance regardless.
His best race in a while. Definitely back in the 5k talk.
I believe this makes PC the 8th fastest US performer at 10000m.
Were the red lights the world standard? he lost the red lights to early but then closed to within 2 seconds?
8th fastest performer in US history.
Running solo for most of the latter half.
Solo effort, He might make the USA team in the 10000 as well as his best event 5000, not sure where he can try for the time again, well he ran solo here maybe he will try to hit the Standard at USATF/Budapest World Trials, Maybe he can get someone to get him to the 5000 in 13:25-13:30 either someone with no chance to make team USA or Grant Fisher who could easily do that and still win
Great atmosphere and Chelimo was loving it at the end, working the crowd. Impressive run to do that alone. He can still be a factor on the track
the interviewer asked chelimo where this race ranked compared to his olympic medals 😂😂😂 lmaooo bro what
More BAD news for Grant Fisher! Just kidding. However for everyone else that 5k team will be gauntlet: Woody, Nur, Fisher, Klecker, Jacobs, Chelimo, Beaslescomb, Teare (maybe), Nico
Yeah based on his track record, I never really got the notion that he'd be a contender in any event above 5000 and should just stick with that distance as long as her can stay competitive. People forget he won a US indoor 1500 title back in 2018. Longer isn't necessarily ever going to be better for him, even as he continues to age.
Agree a big 10PB should be ultimately good for his 5000
Looks like there are 2-3 ranking spots for Budapest right now. I don't know if this run will be enough. It's quick and silver label. It's a shame, there would be more rankings spots if 8 didn't go to the people who ran the European XC circuit
