Western Michigan Women... Wow is this bad

Here is the truth. Western Michigan fired a great long-time coach because several black athletes didn't like him and they essentially railroaded him out. Then they decided to hire a coach to appease the problem athletes. All they could find was someone who really didn't have the credentials to be a head coach. I was called for references on any coaches that might fit what they were trying to do but I refused to participate. It was a dumpster fire and the program has gone downhill. WMU got exactly what they deserved. There are great young coaches out there and they went with a disastrous method.

OK, had to go do some reading, It looks like Coach Batten was tragically under-qualified, and her results show it. She's out of coaching at the college level and working for Converse.

The current interim coach had just joined the team in March of 2022, so I guess it was fair to give him a shot (which doesn't seem to have amounted to much).

The AD at the time: "While we will conduct a national search for a new leader of our program at a later date, we have great confidence in Coach Cataldo's leadership moving forward, and thank him for accepting this role as interim head coach."

Time to rev up that search.

It's interesting to me that a few black athletes would rather spend a year + of their time and energy getting rid of a coach they don't like instead of just transferring to GVSU or something where they'd likely find more success. Instead of risking a completely new and under qualified coach lol. Wonder how accurate all these details really are

They went all in on a Diversity Task Force that is winning awards in Diversity for the program. Unfortunately, it is extremely expensive to keep everyone on staff which is geeting close to 20 people now.
