I'm very surprised. He seemed to have a good head on him. In the end, like the Zane Robertson case showed, it always comes down to personal/financial pressures. I'm guessing his many injuries preventing him from earning a living contributed somehow.

That was me, and it is mostly true. I'd say this is the biggest bust since Kiprop if you don't count whereabouts. Sad, sad day.
Says he was busted for biological passport? Curious about his response.
So you are really not counting Elijah Manangoi as a doping offender?
Whereabouts. I know it's subject to much mockery by the likes of Coevett but his alibis rang true. Delayed flights (confirmed) make more sense than contaminated burritos.

Lol, stuck in a 4 am traffic jam going out of Nairobi to rural Rongei.
His results since he came back clearly indicate he was doping. He was training his butt off during his suspension (and illegally with Tim and the Rongei crew). One year of his suspension covered the Covid lockdowns, so he only really missed one year. The summer he got suspended, he was boasting of breaking El G's WR at Monaco, and many here thought he might do it. Now he can't break 3:36.
Then add to that that little brother George, who didn't even consider Jakob a serious rival according to you, decides to run off and join the army and clearly will never be a world class runner again.
His team is standing by him. Must say I'm very encouraged. When your team, coach and teammates show this kind of belief it 1) absolves them from complicity, IMHO and 2) indicates there's chance (however small) for a plausible explanation.

It was graduation weekend for a bunch of universities in Nairobi. I believe him.

...and a traffic jam in Nairobi at 4am...bias helps us to choose what we want to believe.
Didn't someone say it's only lower tier Kenyan athletes getting busted ...

Biggest bust since Kiprop? Debatable. Very debatable. Was Sumgong before or after Kiprop? Of sure Cherono, Kipyokei, Kipserem, Renju, Wanjiru, Kiptum, Chepchirchir, and Kitwara were all after Kiprop. All banned for PEDs, not "just" hiding.
Indeed the signs were there you are right. You can almost always tell. There are two I am keeping an eye on at the moment. They are high profile too, 1 woman very high profile and a male not as high but up there too. They tend to have lots of suspicious injury breaks disappear for awhile then come back perform well in few races then disappear again.WADA Is doing a great job on the ground using intelligence led burst up testings. They are a few more coming up soon.
