Lancaster results. I was a little surprised by how big of a 4-5 gap Lancaster had here. But they were missing: Brunney (16:55 5k) E Rice (9:59 3200 / 16:55 5k)
Gabelman / Dellasanta are looking to be the only 2 varsity seniors this year for Wester. North. so this team is looking to be solid for next year too. Perhaps even better.
No not better. Gabelman is a once in a generation talent for North. You can't just replace a 1 or 2 pt scorer at the state meet. Your "solid" guys may get 47th, 59th, 70th at state. Or 110 like Bracken did as a junior. With Gabelman, you're essentially only scoring 4 varsity guys each meet. Much like Davidson and Ackley the past 3 years. See how much they've fallen this year? It isn't because the lost Kafka...
Id say that its not all about Ackley though. Davidson lost their 1,2,4,5 and 7 from the state meet last year.
Yup, Boyd and Rona are the only varsity guys from Davidson that returned and both did very well at their first meet. Limbert did step up from last year though, and closed the gap on Rona. Their 4th and 5th are pretty far back

Those times that the girl from Lakota West is running seem a bit fast for this point in the season. She has back-to-back weeks with a 17;29 & 17:22. I believe that she is only a sophomore.
Marlington is way overrated. They might not be top 10 in Ohio.
Why don’t you think they will be top 10 in OH?
Because they’re D2 and their 5th man ran 18:31 at Obetz. They have a strong front 3 but smaller schools are naturally going to struggle with depth and even Marlington isn’t immune to that. In previous years people have speculated that Marlington would be able to place top 10 in D1, which is what I think he was referring to, but I don’t see how they would this year.

Marlington was missing senior Citino who ran a 16:19 / 9:47 / 4:24 last year
Just looked at it you're right he was missing. He was crazy inconsistent in XC last year though so it still hard to tell how they would match up against the D1 teams

Marlington is currently #29 in Milesplit's Ohio team rankings. Now there are flaws to this approach in XC (not all courses are equal, obv), but it does give an approximation. And truthfully, many of the teams ranked ahead of them also ran at Obetz. I mean, even with Citino Kilbourne would've beaten them quite easily. And Westerville North beat Kilbourne the following week without Gabelman.
Remember... we're only discussing this because Marlington was listed along with Mason and Mas. Jackson as teams to watch in Midwest NXR. It's a disservice to teams like St X, Westerville N, Kilbourne, Jerome, Coffman, and maybe even Orange. I'd take most of these squads over Marlington this year.
The Mideast Cross Country Championships presents the best 12 high school men and women senior runners from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and other area states.
Week 1 rankings released. This forum is gonna have a field day with the D1 boys rankings. Top 3 remain the same, although ST X receives no 1st place votes. Kilbourne jumps to 4th(maybe a little high for them this early?) and bumps Coffman and Chardon down a place. Westerville North is ranked 7th, and I know people are gonna call BS on that one, but I actually think its *mostly* fair, considering they have only run once. Jerome is receiving heavy disrespect, only ranked 13th behind Lancaster, Beavercreek, Centerville, Orange, and Lebanon. Jerome is clearly better than these teams right? I know the times that they put up weren't anything special, but it seemed like that course was slow. Idk. I'm not from Jerome but I really think that anyone doubting them is gonna be eating their words in October.

Everyone agreed to use the below thread now. The title of it makes more sense
