Yup if we’re talking about a race starting at a national landmark. Saw her come past in the first half and kinda laughed about it but thinking back realizing it was kinda a situation.

That’s the one! I would bring it open to race director. She didn’t start in the back and her leash was longer than 5ft like the rules state. From my perspective it looked like the dog was doing some work for her. If the RD and if the dog owner followed the given rules your wife would have received the prize money
Dogs can be trained to have more endurance than humans and dogs are always faster than humans. People who have tried (there is a dog pulled world record for most distances) have faster prs with the dog pulling than without. A dog pulled runner should absolutely not be eligible for any awards except in a open race.
It was a lab sized dog that was running the whole time, 10 mile race. We didn't realize she was 4th OA until her 1st in age group award came in the mail. Is this mechanical doping? Biological doping?
I was in a race with a lady like this. Her dog basically pulled her the whole race. It was leashed around her waist. She looked like an average hobby jogger and finished in a mid 15 minute 5k beating some good male runners. I'd like to see how she faired without the dog and I bet she's maybe around 19 plus minutes. However props to her because the back pain alone wouldn't be worth it.
PEDs (performance enhancing dogs) rule! But they are not responsible for faster times for the human counterpart due to the balance offsets from pulling on one side. I began running and racing with my lab when he was young, but had to quit with him because I couldn't keep up and the constant braking damaged my hamstrings. It is only fun if they are off leash.
I think you got robbed and have a right to complain. Better yet, the person with the dog has the responsibility to step off the podium. It’s dicey, though, turning a person in to upgrade your own position - right or wrong.

It’s called canicross and it can let you run much faster and it definitely should not be allowed in a regular race with prize money.
So whoever downvoted- are you downvoting canicross or you think runners being pulled by dogs should be eligible for prize money in all running races? Either way, it’s a hot sports opinion, please share!

I meant this not to have except. That is to say, dog pulled runners should only be eligible for awards in special dog allowed competitions.
