I need a pair that's both comfortable to walk around in (daily life) and good for running. Price doesn't really matter, but I'd prefer under $100 per pair.

Lululemon has really good shorts. With or without liner.
As I stated, the 5-6" are more for daily life while the 4" and shorter are for running but still wearable
I'd say Vuori, Lululemon, and On all make good shorts in the 5" range.

Women told me they prefer longer inseam shorts FYI
1. There are times where I need to run almost instantly after class and don't really have time to change, and 5" shorts are perfect for that as they're light and short enough to run in while still a 'liveable' (as in, you can wear them normally) length.
2. Some might, but my girlfriend has said otherwise. So I don't really care
Tracksmith Session Shorts in either 5" or 7". Session Speed Shorts if you can go with 3".
Thank me later
Just wear some speedos.

Thanks. Already have a pair from Vuori but bought 2 each from Lululemon and On.
Nike aeroswift shorts (the split racing ones) are pretty sweet.
can look on ebay for some good deals. They come with either a 2" or 4" inseam. I've bought several and they have held up well after a few years.
