Can somebody please direct me to the video where Goodge gets angry about being questioned and calls willvlc a maggot. TIA
This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
Can somebody please direct me to the video where Goodge gets angry about being questioned and calls willvlc a maggot. TIA
I don't blame Goodge for doing that because willvlc is clearly deranged and don't know how to properly analyze the data like I have provided.
How do you explain the theme and rhythm of the numbers? The way they suddenly create a different calibre of athlete for the second half of the day, when he gets tired at 17 miles?
You're just going for tech fail. How is the tech failing in SUCH a specific and predictable manner, day after day, year after year. For 2,500kms? But never fails him outside these specific events, or if it does 1 in a hundred.
There is no possible reply to this founded in reality. His numbers are absolutely clean for the first 17 miles, and then suddenly become incredibly corrupt.
Your explanation of all of this as a tech fail is going to tie you up in knots. It's far, far, too convenient and makes absolutely no sense.
Occam's razor:
Are his heart rates very strange and out of the ordinary? Yes.
Do heart rates vary enormously, and do some hearts respond very differently to stress? Yes.
Are HR monitors innaccurate? yes.
Is it virtually impossible to fake a heart beat that well? Yes.
Therefore, the only one that is incredible is faking so well.
For Will to prove his case he needs to stop concentrating on the possibly crazy bits he is on at the moment, and start reducing the incredibility of the fake by showing how it can be faked.
Generally he does them on Insta which disappears after a day. Of course I made copies. But he also called me a cultural icon. A gremlin. One of my happiest trips to the cinema in '84.
What other evidence do you have besides not willing to admit you are wrong about heartrate? I've provided detailed graphs of the cadence and speed data from all his runs so far, you've only provided hot air.
What percentage of kms Coros does spit out a mangled HR, wrong by up to 40%?
You're admitting that the second half is all a tech fail as it's your only possible explanation. So go on... tell me how often Coros gets something like this wrong by. 10%? 50?
All ears.
Purely devil's advocate here as I can't do the math, but with a 5-7 foot stride length and a cadence of 170-180, surely he travels quicker than 12 mins a mile?
Coros gets it wrong as often as you get it wrong.
Did your cadence by 2.
Edit: Meant to say you need to divide your cadence by 2. 170-180 would be the number of steps from both feet so you need to divide by 2.
Stride length is one step. Surely you're presenting your data wrong and you should divide that by two.
Haha, that's priceless, made me smile

Cadence as presented in the data from Strava is from both feet. You are off by a factor of 2. It records typically round 80-90 when he is running. His running pace varies somewhere around 5.5-7.5 mph resulting in stride lengths roughly around 5-7 feet. All of which are numbers I've seen in past files of other runners.
Just spoken with an advanced maths scholar, here's his view:
"the tech and data claims they're claiming should be sporadic be random. They should not follow the perfect pattern of improving him as a runner, in the 2nd half of days, after he fatigues, by 30-60%, over a period of 4 years, over varied equipment and watches."
"The failures should also happen in the first half as well as the second, and they should weaken him as a runner, as well as improve him."
Here's some insight from NuCalm who have presented an explanation of how WG is achieving the run:
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding William Goodge's effort to run across America. We appreciate the time and attention you have applied to your message and insights. I assume you do not know much about our company. NuCalm is a 33-year old neuroscience company that has been serving humanity with patented, clinically proven neuroscience solutions since 2009. We focus on helping the U.S. military - since 2013 (Special Forces, Air Force Special Operations Command, Navy Seals, Border Patrol - BORTAC and BORSTAR), the FBI and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team, cancer patients, pilots, doctors, trauma victims, addicts, and now consumers. Since 2011, we have also worked with 56 professional sports teams, UFC fighters, professional boxers, endurance athletes, professional golfers, professional tennis players, professional auto racing drivers, Olympians and more. NuCalm is the world's first and only patented technology clinically proven to lower stress and improve sleep quality without drugs. Our technology has been helping the world's top athletes dramatically improve their strength and endurance by expediting recovery without drugs. When brain waves oscillate in theta brain wave function (7Hz - 4Hz range), respiration typically slows down to one breath every ten seconds, cells do their cellular maintenance and clean their toxins, mitochondria is restored, inflammation is lowered, lactic acid is removed, and resilience is improved. This is the body's healing zone, and NuCalm Rescue oscillates brain waves into theta using patented, clinically proven neuroacoustic software. We are not surprised by William's success, nor have we been surprised by the impressive results of the world's best athletes using NuCalm.
We believe that we learn the most from the extremes. In fact, some of the independent NuCalm research done by Dr. CK Peng (the world's leading expert on Heart Rate Variability at Harvard Medical School) was done on professional athletes vs stage IV cancer patients. The extremes are what compelled us to support William in his endeavor to run across America. In addition to the extreme physical and mental challenges, William's passion for helping fight cancer resonates with our mission to help patients heal from cancer. We have donated time, effort, and hundreds of thousands of dollars of NuCalm to help cancer patients heal since 2014.
Awesome. I’ve just spoken to the Dalai Lama, Donald Trump and God. They’ve all said the same thing: that you’re a top tier ass.
You are clinging on to HR and judging this transcon by your own crappy standards. You are now coming across really bitter. You have clearly achieved nothing in the ultra world and are taking out your own shortfalls on other people achieving something you couldn’t even dream of.
People are telling you time and time again that you need stronger evidence but you are obsessed with your narrative. Get yourself out there and run with him.
I am not a ‘detractor’ or pro this guy - I just wasted 45 minutes of my day reading this thread you have created!
Have a day off.
You do realise he is an extremely accomplished runner in his own right, right?
This one could go either way but after reading what is becoming a borderline comedy thread I have to ask; WHY DON’T THEY JUST LIVESTREAM HIM RUNNING FOR F**K SAKE?
Accomplished by whose standards? The record he is so desperate to protect isn’t even known in the states. Show me ‘Bruce Tulloh’s’ heart rate data as well. Again, judging by your own poor standards.
This Goodge has $600k raised for charity. Even if he takes 1/2/300k out for salaries etc it’s still a silly amount. How much have you or anyone else single handed raised for charity?
Accomplished as in 35hrs for MDS vs the winner's 18, and 14 for London to Brighton to the winner's 9.
That type of accomplished?
