So literally everything is just catering to hobbyjoggers now?
SMH! This will not result in the excitement and camaraderie of a bustling finish funnel. This will drive runners that can average a sub-10 minute pace to leave Parkrun, cause injuries as runners perform unsafe passing moves, and could also lead to a lot of loud expletives, hurt feelings, and potential violence.
EDIT: Ahhhhhh!!! Saturday is April 1. You got me, Parkrun!
Note that these changes come into effect this Saturday, April 1.
the sad part is that this would totally be believable. Races have been heading this direction for a long time
What will Greg do?
Lol, sounds like an early April Fools joke. I've been to a few parkruns and no one could be this stupid.
Please tell me they're not introducing this at all park runs?
I've marshalled a number of times and the slowest runners usually come through in 40 minutes... them you get the tail walkers strolling through after an hour or so. Absolute pistake. If you want a walk do it in your own time.
Whydja havta issue a spoiler alert?
Pretty weak attempt when you finish with "Gott Hugh" and "Jo King".
But even if this were the policy, I am not sure it would even matter at my local parkrun. They get about 30-40 per race and have only had about a dozen people run faster than 18 min . . . ever. They usually line up like a XC race on a field in the park and then you hit the hike and bike path after that. You still have to maneuver around people walking their dogs, riding bikes, etc.
No he didn't 'get' you. It's not April 1st.
This got me. The woke obese normalizing includers have been so active that for a minute I actually thought this was legit. Well played.
They really nailed this prank by phrasing it as a move to increase "inclusion." In 2023, that will throw anyone off for a bit before they get around to checking the calendar, and probably get certain kinds of people to support the "change."
An absolutely stupid and idiotic move on that parkrun's race director. Thousands of parkruns completed without injuries and insults letting runners and walkers do it their way. Now some wacko wants to show their power and set a rule that will cause injury and insult and damage the reputation of a well thought out and long well executed event. Parkrunners-ignore this BS and keep doing it the way the founder designed.
WHOOSH
I like to run with my golden retriever on an extended lead. Love watching those parkrunners go down like skittles.
