Wow. You're bitter about something. Don't you have a dog to kick or pillow to scream into?
You present made up numbers as facts.
You don't actually know anything about power outputs yet you wish to be taken seriously?
Not my numbers. They are from a study from sportsscientists.com. I believe the link has been posted a few times. I'm an anonymous poster on the internet... I couldn't care less how you "take me". Now, please go back to screaming into your pillow.
The 6.97 watts per kilo is a nonsense number. It's greatly exaggerated. What's so hard to understand?
Stop worshipping EPO, the idea that itcan miraculously transform oxygen uptake to superhuman levels is pure quackery.
Use a bit of common sense please. This is just lousy journalism. Ross Tucker is disingenuous.
Ah... your agenda has finally been revealed. Welp, in my last year of competitive racing I took EPO. And it absolutely works. It is completely transformative. And, I was already using an altitude tent religiously.

The 6.97 watts per kilo is not from a "serious' study, it was just added for effect.
And why are you claiming to have been a Professional cycist who was tested every six weeks when you obviously have so little knowledge of cycling power outputs?

Not saying you're wrong about PEDs being involved, but bike tech advances also contribute to faster riding, just like the super shoes.
I am a pretty serious cyclist. I bike a lot. There have been some great tech advances like thru-axles, electronic shifting, hydraulic disc brakes, better wheels, and advances in composite technology. These technological advances, though, don't contribute to faster climbing the way that you think that they do. Out all of those, wheels probably influence climbing the most. Heck, disc brakes are even heavier than caliper rim brakes. When I race criteriums I actually prefer the feel of the rim brakes, especially on tight circuits.
I have two carbon road bikes with the latest and greatest technology. I also have three steel road bikes - a Ciöcc San Cristobal made with Columbus SL chromoly, a Bridgestone RB-1 made with quad-butted Ishiwata chromo, and my prize, a Colnago Master made out of DT15V steel. All of those steel bikes are relatively, light in weight, with the Bridgestone being the heaviest, but they are all more comfortable than my carbon bikes and climb just as well. I'm just not buying the technology argument that the riders are climbing better due to technology. Yeah, it can account for some improvement but not what we're seeing now.
Greg LeMond is one of the most genetically gifted riders of all time. I don't believe that he doped. If he would be on a level field with Armstrong, LeMond would have smoked Lance 99 out of 100 times. Greg knew something was up and he spoke out about it. Lance, being the scum that he was, made Greg pay.
LeMond put Lance on the spot in a press conference and made him squirm when he started asking him about power output. I had already lost respect for Lance by this time but the way that he spoke to someone that was a legend and more talented than he was just cemented that even more...

This is silly. It's not realistic. They were both equally gifted.
Nope, sorry, LeMond was more gifted than Armstrong. I'm not just saying that because LeMond had a higher VO2 max. LeMond was more technical and could ride anything - the Grand Tours or the spring classics. There was a reason that we did not, or rarely, saw Armstrong at events like Paris-Roubaix. Lance was actually at his best, pre-cancer, when he won the world championship in Oslo. This was before he was so heavily imbued in doping also. As I mentioned, put Lance and LeMond on their bikes to square off when both were at their prime and drug free, and LeMond torches Armstrong. They were not equally gifted and if you believe that Armstrong is one of the top 25 cyclists of all time, sorry, fanboy.
Lance's greatest contribution to society is the money that he raised for cancer research. That was great. But what he did to people like Greg LeMond, Tyler Hamilton, Betsy Andreau, David Walsh, Emma O'Reilly, and so many others is inexcusable and tarnishes his legacy.
All the naiive on LRC say it is the shoes that are causing marathon and athletic records to drop left and right. But it is not the shoes, it is new classes of PEDs as evidenced by what has been happening in pro cycling for the last 5 years where they don't wear Nike shoes but are seeing power and climbing records that makes EPO fueled Lance look like a Sunday club rider. Whereas Lance has threshold power of 6-6.2 watts/kg, the top pros are now going 6.8 watts/kg and we are not even in Tour de France season yet.
You say it's not the shoes and you literally quote an article that says these amazing cycling performances are partly due to " technological advances", i.e., the equivalence of...." The shoes" [ for running].
Lance has stated multiple times on many different forums from interviews to documentaries to podcasts that 7 was the magic number. I believe there's even a video of him getting a blood lactate test done and getting 7 on the madone iirc. He always said that if he was at 7, he knew he'd win the Tour

Lemond didn't have a higher VO2max than Armstrong. Don't believe the hype. Armstrong was tested by Coyle, so there was no number fudging.
what kind of new PEDs do you suppose dominate the doping market these days? Have we even heard of them?
Years ago I said there seems to be a magic metabolic pill that allows you to perform while what normally would be seriously underweight. It turns out there are, I forget the name though.
There are entire classes of supplements/chemicals that WADA has never dealt with.
The mountain time trial was the 16th stage in 2004. No chance he was at his best after 15 days in the saddle. Plus, I assume this is calculated power to weight based on his finishing time. Lots of lost power just maneuvering your bike through the switchbacks and inefficiency with variable grade.
At peak fitness (and peak doping) Lance was likely at 7.5 w/kg in the lab.
At 7w/kg, you would be up Alpe d’huez in less than 30min. Number would probably be less than 28min at 7.5w/kg. What’s his best? 37min?
