Another thread has plummeted into a young twin obsession yet again! There is lots of talent in the 3200 and 1600, just not the mainstream names of past years. Definitely will be a good showcase of California depth this year that was shown between Redondo Invite and Dublin Distance Fiesta already.
for real. We get it the youngs are very good but it’s getting annoying how their name and school manages to pop up in races they aren’t registered in. Hopefully we do get to see some pretty fast times in the 8,16, and 32
Well, their absence does affect the other runners, as without them there to push the pace from the gun, the INV mile is now a completely different race, and will probably be a little slower. But we can always hope this creates an opportunity for a new runner to rise to a new level. On another note, the girls INV mile could have really fast times, with Engelhardt pushing the pace, and a really good field behind her, with hopefully a few sub 4:50s. I'm also real interested to see how fast Xai Ricks can run with Aaron presumably aiming for around 1:48. Maybe we will see two sub 1:50s again.
Boys: 800m - Sahlman, Ricks, Ligons, Ray. Based of a MileSplit interview, Caudillo is coming off injury and has been only running 3 weeks. Mile - I could role a 10-sided dice to choose, but going with Noonan with a huge PR. Then Seymour, Hernandez, Fasthorse, Petre would be my guess after that, but it could be anyone, especially since I expect this race to go out a little slower, and tactics and positioning will be key. 3200m - Morganfeld, Simmons, Spradling, Issa Donis is the wildcard. Had the best XC season, but almost no track results so far. Girls Mile: Engelhardt, Markow, Godsey. The real question is will Sadie break any records? 800m, 3200m - Somebody probably knows these fields much better than I do
I also won't hazard a guess on the boys FS 1600 and 3200, but those are good fields loaded with runners who normally run varsity. The times won't be out of this world, but they should be extremely competitive. Or we may see the emergence of a new star. Last year Landon Pretre ran 9:14 as a freshman, which really identified him as someone to watch.

Great Oak Times so far: Jack Paradise 10 4:27 Jacob Brown 10 4:34 Kai Marotta 11 9:44
In addition to the following times run earlier in the season Gabriel Rodriguez (11) 4:14.31 / 9:17 Westin Brown (10) 4:15.69 / 9:26 Jeffrey Keeney (11) 4:16.77 / 9:18 Michael Rodriguez (11) 4:23.95 / 9:36
This is gonna be a very solid top 7 if track times translate to cross country.
Last year Great Oak got off to a solid start but they peaked at state and NXN.
I don’t think NXN will be out of reach for them next year.
1. very very fast race. very very deep race as well. i really wasn’t expecting it to be this deep.
2. big race for xai ricks. huge statement. 3 second PR from this season - worth noting his pr from last year was 1:55
3. not sure what happened to aaron. hopefully he’s is just periodizing his season differently.
4. 3 second PR and bodi ligons and rodriguez. both come from deep distance programs. very interesting result considering the 4x800 later this season. 7:28 is NO slouch but considering wilson ran 7:45 today i really wouldn’t be shocked if the national record was challenged later this season.
5. noah ray 1 second pr at the beginning of the season. i could see him running 4:05 this season. sneak contender for a state title in the 1600.
apparently xai ricks ran the 1:49.1 off of a 51 first lap. i think he will run 1:46 this year. LBP has some of the finest periodization i’ve seen in high schools programs outside of texas. they peak perfectly.
