Joe Klecker got kicked down by Woody Kincaid at the TEN and they both missed the Olympic Standard. We spent 20 minutes in last week's pod debate this thread: ...
He clipped him at least twice. He wasn’t willing to do any of the work when Joe asked him to go up. I think Pre had something to say about people like Woody in this race…
Exactly. Woody is just one of the racers. He's not there to help anyone. Can't stand attitudes like Klecker's. He could have run faster if he wanted to.
It looked to me like Woody tried to go by Klecker at 1600 and I guess out of frustration/stubbornness Joe didn’t let him go. Guessing because he didn’t help earlier when Joe gestured at him. Getting in his shoes I get it but in practical terms if Woody takes over at 8400 that is pretty much perfectly fair.
I understand kleckers frustration but they had a pacer for like 17 mins anyways. Also I don't think woody had a chance to lose today

This was explicitly a time trial to get a standard. Woody was a mooch who was clipping from behind he was mooching so hard. If woody pulls his weight and takes some laps in there they had a chance to hit the 2024 standard. But nope. Woody doing woody things. I didn’t mind the sit and kick at BU. But tonight was too much.

If someone doesn't like it, maybe someone should try beating him.
if he took the lead clean at 8.4k i think both have a chance to go under 27... but nope nope gotta win and clip some heels along the way. what's the point of winning anyway? isn't the goal to get under 27, go to the olympics to get stomped by the ugandans anyway

Running is ultimately a solitary sport. You want the standard, go get it. They know their fitness. No guts.
I think he was going to…have to rewatch. It looked to me like Klecker shut him down in a bit of an emotional moment. Woody alluded to it a bit post-race.

Maybe it is "solitary," but it's harder to just "go get" the standard when being clipped from behind.

Yes.
Nice of Kincaid to take advantage of Hoare bringing them through 6k then sit on Klecker the rest of the way. Hope he enjoys the extra $400 or whatever in prize money he got at the super prestigious Sound Running 10k track meet. If God exists, maybe he (Kincaid, not God) will get a stitch again at nationals and drop out like the selfish little punk ass B he is.
Didn't see the race, but looking at the splits, it appears they had Hoare pacing through 6K, and that Woody moved into 2nd place at around 7000m. Woody led for at least the last 800m. So it's not like the whole race was just Joe Klecker leading, and Woody being a leach.
In the race in Boston where Woody got the 5000m AR, I didn't think he was being a leach at all. Joe tried to drop him...and he did drop him! But he just didn't get far enough ahead. Woody came back and outkicked him.
Some people just always seem to end up in that front-runner position, then get mad at others for not taking some laps. Then they keep getting out-kicked, which has to be frustrating for them (and those rooting for them), so they make it into this narrative of "I was being a hero, and they were being a leach".

Yes. The fact is, no American (other than Fisher) is going to be able to race the standard, they'll need a cooperative TT. Klecker thought that's what he was doing, Kincaid thought it was a race. They both ultimately lost
